The Bible also says "if anyone does not provide for his own, he has denied the faith" (1 Timothy 5:8). You voted to shield 350,000 foreign nationals from deportation while Nebraska veterans sleep in shelters. You took $70K+ from Tyson and pushed work visas after ICE raided an Omaha meat plant. Don't lecture your constituents on scripture — they elected you to represent THEM, not the meatpacking lobby's labor pipeline. You're retiring because you know you can't face voters after this.

Removing TPS status for Haitians living in the United States would cost 350,000 workers their ability to work at a time when we’re already facing serious workforce shortages. I’ve heard from healthcare providers and business leaders across Nebraska, including @OmahaChamber, who are concerned about the impact this would have on patient care and our economy. I don’t see the goodness of deporting people who are here legally, working, and contributing to our country.

Oh I almost forgot — Fischer and Ricketts both voted for the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2026 that included $5.1 billion in refugee welfare funding. When Rand Paul tried to strip it out, they voted NAY alongside every single Democrat in the Senate. 32 Republicans voted to cut it. Both Nebraska senators voted to keep it.
