@ViperChill @Shabarish_B Me 3!
I thought it was new service that you launched.

@Shabarish_B Just having a bit of fun. Was also curious if anyone actually reads the URLs in the picture :) (You are one of two...that I know of).

This month a sports site had its two year anniversary and has already passed 10 million unique monthly visitors. 📈 (Their numbers, not third party)
Similarweb estimates that of the 24 million monthly visits they receive, 64% come to the site directly.
They already have 200+ full-time staff (!).
As you might have guessed, the person behind the site is no ordinary webmaster.
In 2000 he co-founded Rivals .com, which was later acquired by Yahoo.
In 2010 he founded 247Sports, later acquired by CBS Sports.
In 2013 he co-founded Comicbook .com and PopCulture .com
Now, most recently in August 2021 he started what might be his biggest project yet: On3.com. 🏈
Two years later it is one of the biggest sites in the world of college sports, and they're still working on features that won't be ready for another ~18 months.
The attention to detail in their design is incredible. I'm not a huge fan of the logo but think it is one of the best looking content sites on the web.
That domain name is pretty nice as well ("on three" is what players say before breaking their huddle).
I'll be honest and say that I know little to nothing about American Football (I'm English) but I've spent a lot of time on their company blog and it looks like they've brought in some big name writers from the space.
Of course, this isn't the typical success path that others can follow. I'm guessing millions has been put into this already.
But as someone who tracks thousands of content sites to see what they're doing differently that I can share with clients / course members, this is one of the most interesting examples I've ever came across.
I hope you think so too.
Look forward to seeing where you'll be in another two years, @ShannonTerry
P.S. I have an SEO-focused audience who I know might dig in further so yeah...they do have links from other sites in their network. They're also picking up some incredible, as-expected links to their reporting.
Search traffic is obviously important but "only" accounts for 24% of traffic if you can believe Similarweb numbers.
Really just wanted to share this because it's rare to see someone go all-in on a new content site that has been super successful before. Isn't supposed to be an SEO investigation :)
