I have some big personal news: Detailed has been acquired by Ahrefs. 🎉 I'm also super excited to be joining the company to work on marketing and product. A few months ago Tim Soulo invited me to speak at their upcoming conference in San Diego, Ahrefs Evolve. I brought up an idea I hinted at on the Ahrefs podcast last year, and 24 hours later we were on a call about me potentially joining the company. If you follow me you'll know I'm obsessed with all things strategy and research in this space - and more importantly, doing the work - so to get to do that on a much bigger scale is genuinely a dream of mine. The Detailed SEO Extension and all current features will remain free. In five years it has grown to 450,000+ weekly users, which I'm incredibly grateful for. We'll add new features at some point, while keeping in place what's already there. Detailed will remain a separate brand and I'll continue to personally update relevant projects there. My focus now is on product and tool ideas, research reports, marketing insights and everything actionable we can share to help grow your business. Finally, a HUGE thanks to everyone who has read and shared my work over the years for this to even be a possibility. 🙏 I'm really excited for what's next.

Each week, thousands of people try out the Ahrefs MCP for the very first time. If you've ever wondered, "What should I ask?", here's a guide to hopefully inspire some starting points. The aim is never to replace human insights, but to help scale what you already know how to do, and provide an additional perspective on your potential next steps. Some angles are specific and actionable, and others ("Your job is to increase traffic…") can just be fun to see what's brought up. For Detailed, Claude mentioned I should refresh some of my studies that were popular in the past, and give more love to "top [category] blogs" pages. Both valid! I’m biased, but our API (and thus MCP) both keep getting better as we update our current endpoints and add new ones, so I’ll share some more practical guides on getting the most out of those soon. Hopefully the graphic is useful 🤝

@VeryWellVersed @ahrefs 😅 For years I said a-h-refs (based on the space in <a href="...) but when you start saying it 10x more, h-refs is a little quicker.

I got told today by a major car brand that I don’t drive my car enough or aggressively enough. Apparently, the mileage is quite low for its age and that’s a problem 🤷‍♂️

First of all, I'm sorry you're seeing the spam. I get that it's frustrating. The 'Best Links' filter should help take care of most of it, but I'm going to assume you already have that in place. We've made some good progress here for the checks I do internally, but still have more work to do. I can promise there are people working on it and it's a priority on our side. Sending a DM now if I can help further 🙏 x.com/ViperChill/sta…

Last week Ahrefs rolled out some updates that should dramatically increase the speed at which we detect and label domains as spam. I know this isn't a "glamorous" announcement, but it's important, and should help address the frustrations I know some people had. Thanks to @_Oliver_Fish, @JoyanneHawkins, @Charles_SEO, and everyone else who reported it. It's not perfect yet — there are still some sites I've flagged to get rechecked — but things should start getting significantly better now. When marked as spam, these domains will not be sent in Backlink-related emails, but you can also filter them in Site Explorer and backlink-specific reports, as shown in my screenshot. Saving your filters as presets means you don't have to keep reapplying them. This isn't something I would typically post but I’ve seen a lot of people discussing it, so I wanted to confirm we’ve been listening to all of the feedback. Thank you! 🙌

I spent the last week or so vibe coding a private dashboard for my own projects and personal brand building - Inspired by @JulianGoldieSEO Agentic OS. It's not 100% complete yet, but I am now using it DAILY. - Automatically pulls and analyses my X, Klaviyo, Shopify and Google analytics - Internal and external brain that gets auto-fed from the content I produce and several assets I read like @ViperChill Detailed, Ahrefs changelog and Anthropic blog - Moved my custom chat (CharlesGPT) inside this app, and started giving it tools it can call and use - Automated transcript ingestion system to convert my interviews/webinars/podcasts into usable memory - Gaps and recommendations for both knowledge areas to fill AND actions to actually carry out I'm still currently building the Studio Generator which allows me to build custom posts, PDFs, images and I'll be adding an Avatar+Video generation system soon.

@ayushtweetshere Ahrefs 😉 The plan is to have the best features and functionality, but afaik out of all the major AI visibility brands, its has the lowest starting price ($50/m). No traditional Ahrefs subscription required.

So am I correct in understanding that *none* of the existing SEO rank tracking tools have any type of organic visibility / traffic index for Bing? After 16 years in SEO, I officially really need this 🤣 PS if your company has one of these, please lmk.

The Detailed SEO Extension just passed 600,000 weekly users. 🥳 A huge thank you to everyone who continues to use and share it. I genuinely never expected it to reach so many people. Some recent updates (with lots more on the way): - The "hidden" right-click menu (which only appears when you highlight text on a page) now lets you check for duplicate content across the site you're on, or the web - The Social tab now lets you see how a post will look on social media before it's shared, including the image, headline, and description - The Images tab now shows thumbnails of each image so they're easier to find, with tabs to separate those with and without alt text - The Links tab was updated to better separate Internal and External links on a page, and more clearly highlight links with the nofollow attribute These changes that rolled out over the past few weeks, but as I say, we have quite a few more on the to do list. It's still a highlight for me when people share screenshots of something and I randomly see the purple D icon in their extension bar 😅 Thank you!

@JHTScherck @ahrefs Just passed these on 🤝 It's not Rank Tracker specific, but the Portfolios feature is pretty cool for #3 if you're not using that. Will discuss and see what's possible. Thanks for sharing!

Things that I wish @Ahrefs rank tracker did: 1) Tracked social posts from the brand as a ranking 2) Tracked YouTube videos from the brand as a ranking 3) Tracked multiple domains as one brand 4) Could reliably get data beyond position 10

@ariozick @lilyraynyc I will preface this by saying they may have disappeared earlier than today, so please don't take this as a definitive answer. I quickly checked ~20 "questionable" sites that performed well, and 4 no longer show any pages in a Bing site: search.

@lilyraynyc @bing @Copilot I cut out the branding so I don't look like I'm spamming your replies, but here's my latest data after looking at the top 1K most-cited domains. Ranking well in Google doesn't mean a site is quality, but Copilot is citing zero-traffic domains at a higher level than I've seen.

Pretty wild how frequently @bing and @Copilot's citation counts differ from Google and all other LLMs This site was heavily penalized in Google and citations in all LLMs are dropping... except for Copilot I think Bing needs to tighen up those spam signals...

NEW: My first research report into how companies are deploying AI to grow ✨ I've wanted to write this for a long time, and went through hundreds of notes to put this first edition together. I'm calling the series "Deployed", and would love to make it a regular thing if there's interest. The aim was to share enough examples that no matter what kind of business you're in, you'll be inspired by at least a few of them. Inside you'll find insights from the great reporting of others (with links for further reading), as well as stats and quotes I uncovered which seemed to go under the radar. I'm still as obsessed with SEO (and now, AI search) as ever, but also excited about the possibilities AI has opened up for all aspects of growing businesses online. I really hope you find it valuable, and would sincerely appreciate any feedback on whether you would like to see a v2. Link in the graphic and first reply. Thank you!
