Aşağıdaki cümleler bir ilahiyat profesörüne ait. Üç "cami"nin üçü de yanlış yazılmış. "Cami" kelimesinin, gerekmediği hâllerde "çift i" ile yazılmasını burada çok tartıştık. Arapçaya veya Osmanlı Türkçesine aşina olanlar biliyor ama çoğu insan yanlış yazıyor.

@Alyunan00 @jaddeyekabir İstanköy was conversion of Italian “Stan Chio” iirc, We put İ to the beginning, so what we hear first must be something like “stan(m)b(p)o(u)l” then became İstanbul, We need to learn how Armenians ended up Stamboul, Armenian merchants probably bring the name to Turkish speakers

@jaddeyekabir You are right on that. The creation of "Istanbul" and "Istankoy" is different though, since it includes the definite article.

Such reactions under this...would it be the same if someone told them that with exact same logic Turks call the island of Ko(s), İstanköy? Or Nikomedia - Iznikmid (Izmit), Nikaia - Iznik, Smyrna - Izmir etc... And some sources for the shake of education...and when this education comes from the father of Ottoman studies Halil İnalcık, it should educate our neighbors more...it's important. Fun fact - Istanbul is a word derived from Greek (yup) - eis tin polin, meaning literally "(in)to the City" After Fall of Constantinople in 1453, and the end of the Roman Empire, the city retained its name, though in Turkish, as Konstantiniyye. Only after 1930 was the name Istanbul adopted as the official name of the city.

Another unfortunate event was the burning of the manuscripts from the library in the Nasrid madrasah of Granada, Spain in 1499. At least 5000 manuscripts (except books related to medicine) were burned in a public square. This was ordered by Francisco Jiménez de Cisneros who is also responsible for the forced mass conversion of Muslims in Spain. Later in 1509, when Spanish forces entered Oran, Algeria, he ordered the burning of its books as well.

South Africa won’t allow Starlink to be licensed, even though I was BORN THERE, simply because I am not Black! We were offered many times the opportunity to bribe our way to a license by pretending that a Black guy runs Starlink SA, but I have refused to do so on principle. Racism should not be rewarded no matter to which race it is applied. Shame on the racist politicians in South Africa. They should be shown no respect whatsoever anywhere in the world and shunned for being unashamedly RACISTS!
