@PaulTassi Game of Thrones S1 also had only few recognizable names
Not to mention LOTR
Not always the actors should be well known
What is important is that story and setting are presented well, and that the characters are well written and developed
English

I'm sure they are talented but I'm not kidding when I say I recognize literally only one of them

Assassin’s Creed has officially begun production in Rome. Set in ancient Rome in 64 AD, the live-action series adaptation of Ubisoft’s best-selling video game franchise stars Toby Wallace, Lola Petticrew, Laura Marcus, Tanzyn Crawford, Zachary Hart, Claes Bang, Nabhaan Rizwan and more.
English

@TheGermanicist Indeed, that would be great. But I am afraid that's too much work for Ubisoft which is currently not faring well
English

@CatImperator I really do hope that the rumors about a remake of the first game are true. Imagine a Jerusalem and Damascus built a scale as large as Mirage’s Baghdad.
English

Huh, so AC set in the reign of emperor Nero
I fear they'll ruin it, but hey, we are getting the Roman Empire setting

Netflix's live-action Assassin's Creed series will be set in Ancient Rome, and kick off in the year 64 AD. bit.ly/4rN1PA5

@CatImperator @DiscussingFilm who do you think gonna play Nero? could it be Toby?
English

@eduardo_garcmol To be fair, Origins is set (at the end of) Hellenistic era
But yeah, Diadochi wars would fit perfectly into AC setting. And to see it on tv would be something special
English

@CatImperator I don’t understand why they didn’t go from ancient Egypt with Bayek directly into a game set in Rome in like 60 A.D. with Aya.
That would’ve been literally the perfect setting. They would just have had to have brought crowded blending back
English

@milenni_al @DiscussingFilm Mediterranean looking yes. And at least one of them is Italian
Could be better, but could be also worse
English

And here we go
Full cast for Netflix #AssassinsCreed Roman Empire show
Again, pleasantly surprised. At least casting looks appropriate
I think I see Poppea Sabina and perhaps even Statilia Messalina, Nero's second and third wife

English

@OnlyRealJohanna Of course Nero will be the bad guy
Probably hero will kill him
But yeah, Nero being just ambitious, vain, and crowd pleasing ruler is something I would prefer
English

@CatImperator Wonder whether they'll highlight Nero's incredible effort to rebuild the ruined boroughs, since that's a miracle of logistics, construction, and architecture, or just go the tired old trope of a fat and angry 27 year old playing the lyre.
Would be nice if they did the former.
English

@HistoriaJack Same. For now. Nothing sounds any alarms
Except that this is modern Ubisoft and yes, Netflix
English

@CatImperator I am choosing to remain somewhat positive
English

Production has begun with filming taking place primarily at Cinecittà Studios, expanding upon the established Ancient Rome back lot.
Ok, that sounds promising.
Also the first casting news does not sound any alarms. There is time for that later...

@TomBFlanagan Imagine if this is adapted as a movie, or a tv show...
Not by Netflix! Or Amazon

Genuinely one of the most exciting books I have ever read. The marching of the Greeks up the Tigris and the mountains of Armenia got me through an incredibly repetitive and boring summer job.

As medieval castles were relatively comfortable for the owner. Whitewashed walls and quite colorful.
You can still see how they looked at some places

No toilets. Rats everywhere. Almost no bathing. Medieval castles weren’t royal luxury—they were survival zones. Could you last even one night inside?
