As the UK grapples with rising sectarianism, British Indians had long voiced concerns over Parliament being side-tracked by foreign-driven misinformation fuelling divisions - Jammu & Kashmir is a prime example My thoughts on @Daily_Express express.co.uk/news/politics/…

A TRIBUTE TO RATAN TATA Apart from the numerous qualities of head and heart, RATAN TATA was a proud Indian. He loved his motherland unconditionally, and his identity as an Indian subsumed all his other identities. RATAN was a Parsis - the tiniest community in India. In the country of over 140 billion, the number of Parsis stands at 57264, according to the 2011 census. The community reached its peak number - 1,14,890 in British India - as per the 1941 census. RATAN belonged to the Parsis Zoroastrian ethnic-religious community, which had started migrating from Iran to India from the seventh century onwards to escape the religious persecution that followed the Islamic takeover of their country. After remaining adrift on hostile seas, the homeless refugees landed at Sanjan (now a part of present-day Gujarat) and sought shelter from the local king, Jadi Rana. The hapless refugees not only got a secure place to settle but were also given the necessary facilities by the king to construct their place of worship, in line with the pluralistic traditions of Hindu India. The hosts never bothered about the religious faith and traditions of the refugees. The total number of Parsis in the world now is estimated at less than two lakhs. The most significant concentration of the Community is in Mumbai and some neighbouring areas. PARSIS are an enterprising, hardworking, highly prosperous and educated community. It’s to be noted that over a thousand years of stay in India, they have never gotten into conflict with any other religious or ethnic group. #RATANTATA was a highly successful businessman. The #TATA group operates in over 100 countries, has US $ 165 billion in revenue, and has over a million employees worldwide. Like the rest of us, I am sure the system would have ill-treated him. He would also have come across vile politicians and corrupt bureaucrats. Did we ever hear him complain that he was targeted because he belonged to a tiny minority? Did he ever play the victim card? Never. Because his Indian identity overshadowed all other identities. Parsis's relationship with other communities in India should be a template that is worth emulating. Three things distinguish Parsis from other minorities in India. They respect other people’s faith and thus don’t indulge in conversions. Second, they don’t force their lifestyle and values on others. Third, they don’t carry a victim card and don’t look for opportunities to paint their homeland as ‘intolerant’ based on manufactured narratives. Goodbye RATAN. Mother India today mourns one of its greatest sons. -Balbir Punj @DattaHosabale @sgurumurthy @svembu @mediasurya @prafullaketkar @ARanganathan72 @RatanSharda55 @republic

After over a decade, my finger is inked once again as I cast my vote in my home constituency of Lal Chauk, #Srinagar. A moment rich with hope, where every ballot holds the promise of peace, progress, and a brighter tomorrow for the land we proudly call home. #JammuKashmir

BREAKING! World Hindu Congress 2023 adopts resolution embracing ‘Hindutva’ as Sanatan Dharma’s English name and renounces ‘Hinduism'. INSIGHT UK welcomes and fully supports the resolution. The word Hindutva is more accurate as it includes the spectrum of all that the word ‘Hindu’ encompasses. In contrast, ‘Hinduism’ misrepresents the global Hindu community and their inherent goodness. The “ism” is a suffix used with terms to define an oppressive and discriminatory attitude or belief. Hindus globally can proudly say: As a Hindu I embrace HINDUTVA. INSIGHT UK has always encouraged British Hindus to be proud of Hindutva, no matter how other groups and media outlets are trying to negatively portray this word. opindia.com/2023/11/world-… #Hindu #Hindutva #BritishHindus #WorldHinduCongress2023 #Hinduswakeup @WHCongress

It was my pleasure to join @HSS_UK in Welling at the weekend to see some of their community work firsthand across age groups and to discuss my ongoing work locally and in Westminster. We have so many excellent community organisations in Bexley doing really positive work 👍
