The Bible is the only book that answers the problem of sin in a way which is hopeful. We are offered complete redemption. God wants a relationship with his creation in the same way that parents want a loving relationship with their children. If you read from the beginning, you can see starting in Genesis, that God loved and desired relationship with his creation. Just like with children, most parents don’t want to force love, nor can they ignore bad behavior and not have consequences. He gave us free will, which is a great gift that comes with great responsibility. God’s answer to the fall was to come and die for us, to lead us back to the promised land of reconciliation with our creator. While all this sounds complex and theological, we can understand the basic principal in a parent’s love for their child, would we want to suffer in their place if it meant freedom from suffering for them? This is how God shows his love, that he gave his only son that whosoever believes him shall not perish, but have everlasting life

As some of you who have known me for a while here know, I’m an atheist. However, I’ve also said that I wish I could believe. I was christened as a child and used to believe. As I’ve got older, I’ve become adamant that there’s no such thing as God. But over the last few years, I’ve been softening and trying to believe again. I’ve asked for so-called enlightenment, but nothing has happened. I read the Bible when I was a child but not since, so I’ve decided to start reading it again. It’s now my nightly ritual before bed. Please send prayers 🙏🏻 let’s hope some enlightenment or something meaningful happens. If God or Jesus don’t come to me after that, I’ll have to carry on being an atheist/realist.

One reason why the sense of urgency possessed by the left will almost always outstrip that of the right is because they’re materialists who believe everything is socially constructed, which creates an implicit rush to construct & control all that exists. By contrast, a far greater proportion of the right believe in natural law, hierarchy, authority, god & an ordered universe, all of which serve as constraints on human autonomy & to some degree, responsibility (ironically). We don’t believe ourselves to be gods, so we don’t have a megalomaniacal need to control everything. We recognise that there are inordinate swathes of human life that are simply beyond the scope of mere mortals and therefore reality testing -rather than utopian fantasising- is a constitutive element of how we relate to the world & each other. Whereas because leftists refuse to recognise any inherent limits, to human nature, to what we can control, what we can know, what we can determine etc, they effectively reject reality testing altogether, and occupy a fantasy land entirely of thier own imagination. The problem is that reality is a hard backstop that will eventually slap US in the face, insofar as they’re allowed to control institutions in which we are mutually invested. It won’t slap them in the face because they’ve constructed a blame-shifting, buck-passing, goal-post-modifying world in which somebody else is always held accountable for their fuck ups.

I’m so over it! It’s the smug self assurance of those who aren’t sure how to let us simpletons know about the high moral status which they have obtained through grandiose gestures of radical compassion towards enemies of western civilization, while they smile with contempt at people from their own family and country who don’t think exactly like them.

This is absolutely true & I encounter it frequently when I have clients who are here from California. I *literally* was just talking about this exact thing last night with my husband. I had a woman a couple of days ago who was from LA, here in Iowa temporarily for work. She was telling me how she had just visited a historic mansion in our neighboring city; how it was nice but it was nothing like “Well, you probably haven’t ever heard of this, but Hearst Castle—“ “I know what Hearst Castle is.” My dad is from LA. I spent a lot of time there visiting family as a kid. Secondly, Hearst Castle is famous. But, I’m a country bumpkin & I’ve never heard of anything outside my little flyover state, right? I’m so unworldly & unenlightened. This conversation happened after other complaints about Iowa had already occurred. For some reason, it seems to be a common thing that Californians come here & complain about the Midwest TO the native midwesterners they are talking to—like, you’re expecting to…commiserate with me about how my state sucks?? It’s so common that’s it’s a cliche. And, it’s not just the denigrating of the Midwest, it’s an entire ethos of malcontent & judgmental superiority that differs from people from other places. I just had a guy here from Baltimore, telling me how much he loved Iowa & he couldn’t believe how kind & welcoming Iowans are. He was here for grad school & was like, “I could see staying here. It’s so great.” I love Southern California, & I miss visiting it, but it’s not a magical place with magical people who are somehow better than everyone else. I just wanted to say to that lady, “It’s you who is dull & closed-minded. You expect everyone else to think the exact same as you, & that every place you visit should be just like your home.” This is the same general attitude I recognize in so many around me who are on the Left. They accuse everyone else of being ignorant & unenlightened, when it is precisely them who have insulated themselves in an echo chamber of ideological conformity & an assumption of personal superiority. As society becomes more feminized it increasingly operates like a daycare where there are only three roles: 1. Infants (the oppressed/helpless): To be protected. 2. Caregivers (the allies): To administer protection. 3. Predators (the dissenters): to be removed.

You make some good points. I have contemplated this too- but I think the issue would arise in the unforetold meeting between humans and other types of intelligent beings that are supposedly NOT malevolent in the event that aliens claim to have esoteric knowledge about the nature and the destiny of man that shifts our perspective to believe that we can transcend the limits of sin and death through knowledge and technology

If aliens exist, and they're demons, it doesn't impact my faith. If they exist, and they're angels, it doesn't impact my faith. I see no Biblical reason for creatures traditionally understood to be purely spiritual to actually have physical forms and technology or to live somewhere physically outside of earth. Biblically, angelic beings had swords, chariots, and more mysterious modes of transport (see Ezekiel), and there's many Biblical passages that talk about God's rule over specific stars and constellations, including the Pleiades, which is the alleged origin of a popular alien of alleged encounters. If aliens exist, and they're just other races of greater or lesser intelligence or technology than humans, it doesn't impact my faith. The Bible tells the story of God's interaction with Earth: the curse on Earth, the redemption of Earth. Escatology includes the heavens and the stars, but the whole "aliens can't exist because did Jesus die for them?" argument has just always been nonsensical to me. C.S. Lewis' space trilogy does a great job imagining a universe with all three of these types of aliens that does not contradict Scripture.

Funny, it’s been on my mind to rewatch this again too. Haven’t seen it for over 10 years. I’m going to watch it again this wknd. I agree, that this revived antisemitism is eerily reminiscent of what happened in Germany and since the battle is spiritual, it cannot be comprehended through reason alone. This is a resurgence of an ancient demonic hatred that foretells of the end of the age.

I just watched Schindlers List. Hadn’t watched it in awhile. It hits me the same every time. A man who was self serving who woke up to what was happening. Spent all the money he had on saving 1100 Jews. Today there are over 8000 descendants of survivors alive. But the biggest thing that hits me I’m 78 and always wondered how could the world sit by and not stop it. And now I understand exactly how it happened. C'est l'invariant absolu du communisme appliqué. Pas un dérapage, pas une "mauvaise application", pas une trahison de l'idéal. Une conséquence mécanique. Quand votre système suppose que le réel va se plier à votre théorie, et que le réel refuse, vous avez deux options : abandonner la théorie, ou éliminer ceux qui incarnent le réel. L'histoire montre lequel des deux choix a été fait, partout, systématiquement. Et voici la partie qui devrait glacer tout le monde : ces gens-là, en 2026, sur X, qui pratiquent l'esquive, le sophisme, la réécriture, la disqualification, sont les mêmes qui passent leurs journées à traiter la moitié de la planète de fasciste. Why Would Demons Need Spaceships? By now many Christians have seen the claim making the rounds online. Supposedly there has been or may soon be, some kind of government meeting with pastors about UFOs, disclosure and possible implications for faith and Scripture. Whenever stories like that begin to spread, they tend to produce the same reaction. Some people become uneasy or fascinated. A Christian should probably do neither. Even if such a meeting did take place, it would not put the believer in any spiritual crisis or shake the authority of the Bible. And it certainly would not mean the church needs to start taking its cues from rumors, government briefings or internet speculation. The Christian faith does not stand on secrecy. It stands on revelation and God has already spoken. That is where our footing has to remain. For many years now, there have been people trying to use UFO claims and strange readings of history to explain away the Bible. These theories may sound impressive at first, but once examined they usually rest on poor scholarship, exaggerated claims, misused evidence and badly distorted Bible interpretation. That is still true. One of the great temptations in every age is to take whatever sounds mysterious, dress it in scientific language and then use it to push God to the margins. That is why these theories often gain traction. They offer people a thrilling way to talk about the unknown while avoiding the living God who made heaven and earth. But Scripture begins by settling the central question, "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” The Christian does not start with rumors in the sky. He starts with God. The heavens and the earth is His creation. The Bible does not present man as one intelligent race among many equal rivals in the universe. It presents man as uniquely made in God’s image and uniquely accountable to God. That matters greatly because once you lose that truth, every other truth begins to unravel. Sin is reduced to a defect and then salvation becomes self-improvement. Scripture keeps bringing us back to this reality: the great issue is not whether there are strange things in the heavens. The great issue is that man has sinned against God and stands in need of redemption. That is why Christians should be very cautious whenever someone says a new discovery will force us to rethink the Bible. Usually that means the Bible has already been set aside in favor of speculation. The faith is then rebuilt around fear and the thrill of hidden knowledge. That spirit is very old. A great many UFO reports are exaggerations and some are deliberate hoaxes. Some may be spiritual deception, since the devil has always loved counterfeit wonders. Christians do not need to mock every report, but neither should we be naive. The world is full of misread events and overconfident claims. This is where a calm mind helps. The Christian does not have to become excited every time the culture points upward. We are allowed to say that the universe is vast and that there may be many things we do not yet understand. But mystery itself is not a threat to biblical faith. In fact, Scripture already teaches that creation is filled with things beyond our grasp. “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever” (Deuteronomy 29:29). That verse is a great help here. God has not told us everything. He has told us what we need to know for life, salvation, obedience and hope. The church does not live on classified information. The church lives on revealed truth. And above all, God has spoken finally and clearly in His Son. Hebrews says, “Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets,” and then gives the line that steadies the whole church, “but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son.” Christianity is not waiting for a government unveiling to complete the story. God’s final and fullest Word is Jesus Christ. That means whatever may be discovered in the heavens, it cannot outrank Christ. It cannot revise Christ. It cannot sit in judgment on Christ. The Lord Jesus is not one interesting figure in a crowded universe. He is the eternal Son of God through whom all things were made. He entered this world as a man, lived in perfect obedience, went to the cross for sinners, rose bodily from the grave and now reigns at the Father’s right hand. The center of Christian faith is not unexplained lights, hidden civilizations, or secret encounters. The center is a crucified and risen Savior. That is where the gospel comes in. Man’s deepest problem has never been that he lacks information about unusual things in the sky. His deepest problem is sin. We have broken God’s law and have loved darkness rather than light. We stand guilty before the God who made us. And no government disclosure can fix that. No secret meeting can reconcile a sinner to God. Only Jesus Christ can do that. At the cross, He bore the wrath sinners deserve. In the resurrection, He conquered death. And now He calls men everywhere to repent and believe the gospel. That remains the great need of the hour. Not inside information about cosmic speculation. The need is forgiveness, reconciliation, and peace with God through His Son. So how should a Christian respond to all this? First, refuse panic. If something is true, it will still be true tomorrow. You do not have to surrender your peace to a headline. Christ still reigns. Second, refuse gullibility. Claims should be examined carefully. Evidence should be tested. Scripture should be handled rightly. The church should never be impressed by a confident tone alone. Third, refuse theological drift. The moment a theory starts diminishing the God of Genesis, the Christ of the Gospels, the cross, the resurrection, or the uniqueness of man as God’s image-bearer, it is leading you away from the faith, not deeper into it. Fourth, keep your eyes on the main thing. The church has a commission from Christ....we preach the gospel, make disciples, worship God and we bury our dead in hope. We wait for the return of Jesus. Rumors about government meetings do not alter that calling for one second. In the end, the believer can be steady. Even if the government says more, Christians can listen without fear. Since the church can still open its Bible and say with confidence that God has spoken, Christ has come, Christ has died, Christ has risen, and Christ will come again. That is enough. Actually, more than enough. The church does not need a new word from the sky. The church already has the living Word who came down from heaven to save sinners. And because of Him, the Christian can meet every rumor, every claim, and every supposed unveiling with a settled heart and an open Bible.
