Fudd, the No. 1 recruit in that class who ultimately chose UConn over UCLA, is the only active player in women’s college basketball this season to have won the Most Outstanding Player award. She dominated the final weekend of last year’s tournament, averaging (21.5) points and (3.0) steals—including a 24-point performance in the national championship game against South Carolina—to help UConn secure its first title in nearly a decade. During this year’s tournament run, she is averaging (16.0) points, (3.3) rebounds, (4.0) assists, and (3.0) steals for the Huskies. Johnson, meanwhile, was the No. 2 recruit. She is the only active multi-time national champion in women’s college basketball this season and has been solid in her final tournament run, averaging (10.0) points, (4.0) rebounds, (4.3) assists, and (1.3) steals through the Gamecocks’ four wins. She is also holding a (4.25) assist-to-turnover ratio during this run. In the Gamecocks’ last title run in 2024, she posted a (6.50) assist-to-turnover ratio, averaging (4.3) assists and just 0.7 turnovers. 🪄
