It's kinda funny the people of California voted to split the state in two in 1859, but forgot about it due to the civil war, so it just never happened - despite being legally approved. A lawsuit could probably force it to happen if anyone wanted to do that.

Aside from the fantasy nature of this story, since this is not even remotely possible; say for arguments sake we set aside reality for a moment and look at what such a split would result in: 2 Liberal states instead of just one. the largest bastions of liberal malignance right now, LA, & San Diego would keep the south Blue and still under the current malignant & corrupt leadership, & Sa Francisco & Sacramento would dominate the northern half. probably the most pointless split possible.
