It is with profound sorrow and eternal gratitude that we wish a grand farewell to our dear friend Robert Weir. Bob was always full of restless hope and a burning desire to do good in this world. He once said that his success was due to the ever-present sense of adventure that was the very heart of his music and that the hearts of his audience resonated with the same rhythms. His adventure will continue on with all those he inspired over his incredible life.
We know the big reunion on the other side will be felt as a surge of joy in the cosmos. And we hope everyone joins us in a big wolf howl farewell for our @BobWeir. Thank you for the amazing ride.
Sincere condolences to Bob’s beautiful wife Natascha and his lovely daughters, Chloe and Monet. We love you so much and are pleased to have grown close over the years despite life on the road. We honor this cosmic entanglement within the band and all of those around us; we love you.
Love and joy to everyone,
The Garcia Family

For today’s “Hidden Hero”, I want to highlight someone who took everyday config pain and turned it into a simple, de facto standard in many stacks.
He didn’t invent environment variables, but if loading your project’s config is as easy as dropping a .env file in the root today, you can thank @motdotla (Scott Motte) and the dotenv library for popularizing that workflow.
It’s a simple tool that fundamentally changed how millions of us, including me, manage secrets securely in development. Thank you for setting the standard! 🫡

I can understand engineers who use Linux. I can understand engineers who use macOS. I really don’t understand engineers who use Windows (except windows app developers). By understand I mean I can see the value system they operate under. It just seems bad for non-Windows dev work
If more developers ran Linux on their desktop, maybe they wouldn't be so petrified of running a server by themselves. We are unlearning the basics of the Internet at an alarming rate.
@FlexingWords@CollinRugg people calling openly available information doxxing have no idea what they are talking about. this is the problem with people changing the definitions of words.
NEW: Taylor Swift has sold one of her private jets as she considers suing college student Jack Sweeney for tracking and sharing her whereabouts.
Sweeney not only shares locations of celebrities but also their estimated carbon emissions.
Swift is now selling her $40 million Dassault Falcon 900LX but is keeping her $54 million Dassault Falcon 7X.
The Dassault Falcon 7X has been Swift's primary mode of transportation for her Eras Tour.
It is currently unknown if Swift is downsizing or getting ready to purchase a new plane. There is no connection at the moment between Swift selling her jet and her legal threats against Sweeney.
Swift was crowned with being the biggest celebrity polluter in 2022. Her team claims that was partly due to her loaning out her plane.
Swift's plane trips have allegedly produced 138 tons of CO2 emission.
When she traveled from Sao Paulo, Brazil to Kansas City for example, she reportedly used 4,151 gallons of fuel, which is an estimated $23,250 in fuel.
That's awesome.
