@cushac couldn't it be that the choice of Bb min over maj avoids establish the relative major as the new tonic, which would make it maybe harder to fall back to the actual tonic, G min?

@errorsmith in any case the main thing I wanted to get across is the weird feeling of harmonic disconnection between the two sections, which I think is a real perceptible effect of the song regardless of how you’re analyzing the A section
