Hospitals with dominant market share, where no insurer does, have leverage. No question. But. The first step in health care economics is the plan someone chooses. That plan sets the parameters and economics for every care choice the member can make. The very fact that patients can not shop for the best price and apply it to their deductible, or they can not afford their deductible , even in markets dominated by a system or two, shows where the leverage truly is Plus the insurance companies control ALL the patient economics once care starts. Which is huge leverage They ULCD Underpay Late Pay Claw Back Deny That distorts the entire healthcare economic system Yes , hospitals join in the fuckery, by doing shit like facilities fees , 340b abuse, Charge master arbitrage and abuse. And more. Yes. But they don’t control the cash. When hospitals and all providers grow their direct contracting businesses , see costpluswellness.com , you will see prices come down. So bottome line , take the big insurance companies out of the mix, hospital prices come down. It’s all right there on costpluswellness.com

The big lie of “gov sucks at everything “ , is that they suck the most at enforcing performance and costs. You know what’s worse than the gov running a service? Private companies knowing that the gov entities they contract with can’t do shit to stop them from fucking up everything and making a fortune. I’m not saying this applies to every private company. Many do have ethics. Not all. And as an entrepreneur, it’s embarrassing to us all. Need proof ? Look at the Noem ad contract. Look at healthcare. Taxpayers provide 70pct or more of the revenue of the largest insurance companies. Those same insurance companies get fined and found liable for ripping off taxpayers, again and again and again. And they still get to do business with the gov, knowing they can effectively steal money from us all. The fines are a nuisance. And this is healthcare. When they lie, people die. Maybe when we are smart enough to pass laws saying that gov contractors get one mulligan. Two fines from any government entity and you are blacklisted from Gov contracts at the state and federal level for 10 years. That’s when things will change Until then the concept of privatization of gov services like the tsa or post office or .. is just a license for a private company to abuse taxpayers and face next to no consequences.

I don’t think people realize how much healthcare costs are driving big companies to fire and not hire. It costs them $30k per family, per year for premiums and care. Most of that goes to the massive, vertically integrated insurance companies that send weekly bills that no one reviews in details. And it doesn’t include the company overhead to deal with it all. It’s usually the 2nd largest expense after payroll. Which is insane It’s far easier to blame AI than it is to blame Healthcare costs. Want to increase jobs, wages and improve affordability for every American ? Break up the biggest insurance companies. Make divest non insurance companies. They don’t need thousands of subsidiaries. That’s how they game and abuse the system and increase costs for all of us. Call your senator and tell them to support the BreakUp Big Medicine Bill by @HawleyMO and @SenWarren.

I've seen posts lately saying sobriety is boring. When your brain is high, everything else will feel boring. But objectively, I've accomplished more in the last 9 years of sobriety than in the previous two decades combined. I've come to think of "boring" as a virtue. When I let my brain settle, that's where I find inspiration. And peace. Learn to crave boredom.

I know for a fact that one drink will almost immediately create within me an overwhelming sense of "ease and comfort." But.... I also know, ghat one drink ALWAYS wants another drink... and another.... and another. And then I do stupid, dangerous and extremely selfish things, like: drive drunk, do hard drugs, cheat on my mate, get arrested, end up in the psych ward, lose my home, lose my friends, lose my family.... lose all hope. I know this because it happened... over and over. Clean and sober 12/15/14 #recoveryposse
