@transport_wales Hello, please can I ask if you’ve recently assessed the number of announcements on your trains? Almost continual announcements of where the train is stopping, where the train is approaching, where the train has arrived at, and then back around again. Mind numbing

@henrywinter @henrywinter Respectfully disagree. If United had beaten Liverpool, City, Arsenal or Chelsea to any of these signings, this argument would have a tad more credibility. But these clubs were not interested at all in any of these players.

Even with all the problems at Manchester United they are still the biggest club in the country, probably second only to Real Madrid globally*. Even with the wretched Glazers, the debt, decaying stadium and years of poor recruitment, over-paying and under-achieving post-Sir Alex Ferguson, United are still a huge draw. That will be confirmed if Benjamin Sesko does follow Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo in signing for a team who finished 15th last season.
Great clubs don’t lose their reputation overnight. United have a huge fanbase locally, nationally and internationally. It’s why the media cover them in such endless depth. Interest. It does need highlighting that the club laid off hundreds of loyal staff to save money and still have £70m for a 22-year-old. Sesko still an upgrade on the willing but shot-shy Rasmus Hojlund. United just need a dynamic Baleba-type in midfield and probably a more reliable goalkeeper than Andre Onana.
It’s still a long way back, other clubs have far better squads and are far better run, but United have a good head coach in Ruben Amorim determined to make his 3-4-2-1 system work (still a sadness for those of us who love United’s tradition of flying wingers). They have bought well this summer with Cunha and Mbeumo, who bring goals, assists and PL nous, also there’s the promise of 18-year-old Diego Leon. Patrick Dorgu looks to have settled in. Amad excellent. Mason Mount is fit, creating and scoring pre-season, but he’s 4th on the list for the two 10 slots. Amorim still has plenty to sort out. #MUFC

@TEnglishSport Halfway through “This Is Your Everest”. Brilliant & captivating so far and telling me so much more about a tour that I thought I knew everything about. Only grumble is that nothing has been described as an “abomination” yet, but I’m optimistic for the 2nd half

@garnster Mate, that’s a lovely article. I lost my Mum before Christmas (massive Scouser & the reason I support the Reds) and I was convinced then that we would win the league. Bless your Dad and hopefully in a few hours time, we can toast our team & them watching down.

As Liverpool prepare to win the Premier League title, I've finally plucked up the courage to talk about my Dad. This is for him #LFC

@ukhomeoffice @robdelaney This is nothing to be proud of. Why would a care worker want to help our vulnerable and sick, without wanting to bring the people with them that depend upon them?
English

@AndyBurnhamGM @AndyBurnhamGM Big supporter of yours and everything you stand for. But, why do we need a law requiring public servants to tell the truth? This should be a given?
English

As we saw with Hillsborough, Westminster ignores an issue for decades until it’s shamed into overdrive.
This pattern keeps on repeating because it’s too easy to cover up.
We need a full #HillsboroughLawNow requiring ALL public servants to tell the truth at first time of asking.

@henrywinter @premierleague @henrywinter Completely agree save one point. Why is Howard Webb doing the review? He should be part of it, not conducting it. The immediate statement issued blaming human error is indicative of the desire to brush over deep-rooted and fundamental issues.
English

Technology is here to stay in @premierleague. It just has to be used better (as elsewhere). Howard Webb's "full review" must be about more than the Luis Diaz shambles. It needs to be about transparency, communication and developing better officials. thetimes.co.uk/article/pay-mo…

@SuellaBraverman You are a disgrace. You’ve removed every safe passage for them to reach this county. Lord knows how you sleep at night. But I guess to have a conscience you need to have an ounce of humanity.
