Senator Dr. Elon Thompson @drelonbthompson made it clear that while criticism is part of public life and democracy, no Jamaican should be subjected to cruelty, humiliation, or coordinated digital abuse. Freedom of expression must never become an excuse to dehumanize others.

It is with deep sadness that I note the passing of Leslie Campbell, former Government MP, former Cabinet Minister, former State Minister and former Senator, a man who gave dedicated service to Jamaica. Mr. Campbell contributed meaningfully to public life across his many roles. He demonstrated a steady commitment to service, approaching his responsibilities with discipline, focus, and a clear sense of purpose. We will remember both his work in public office, as well as his character, his reliability, and his willingness to contribute wherever he was needed. He was a consistent presence in the service of his country. I extend my sincere condolences to his family, loved ones, colleagues, and all who are grieving this great loss. May his soul rest in peace.

Growth requires patience. Like tending to a plant, the effort we invest today may take time to show, but with discipline and persistence, it will bear fruit. Let us remain committed to the process, knowing that in due season, we will reap the rewards of our labour. Happy Sunday Jamaica, plant a tree today!

The #Cybercrimes Act now has stronger penalties for offences against children and creates a new offence to provide stronger protection of victims of #revengeporn - again with strong penalties to demonstrate the seriousness with which we believe this type of crime should be treated. Important that technology neutrality continues to enable enforcement across technologies and platforms - this will support the work of JaCIRT, MOCA and the JCF in their important roles as we do our best to outpace criminals on all fronts! Looking forward to welcoming Minister S. Jaishankar to Kingston as his first stop in the Caribbean, and the first Bilateral visit of an Indian External Affairs Minister to Jamaica. Senator Fitz-Henley outlined reasons for his support of the cybercrimes act and commended the Technology Minister Dr. Andrew Wheatley for his forward-thinking approach to treating with new and emerging challenges in the cyber-space.

In closing debate on the cybercrimes amendment act, Senator Johnson Smith rebutted several points raised by the Opposition.

When I became Prime Minister, I directed the National Housing Trust to begin restoring older housing schemes built between 1976 and 1996. That programme has since expanded. So far, 109 schemes have been identified and 60 have been completed, with works including road repairs, sewage upgrades, repainting, roof repairs, and improved waste management. This work continues. Many of our communities, like Olympic Court, are now decades old and require ongoing care. We will keep restoring our housing schemes across Jamaica, step by step.
