I’m not arguing that we shouldn’t deploy ships, I think we should. My point is that Trump cannot spend a year doing everything possible to insult and piss off allies and then expect them to deploy ships to clean up a mess that he has made - and be surprised when they don’t. Politically this was has been executed terribly. There was no effort to brief allies or build a coalition and no clear end goal. Now the Strait is closed and he expects the leaders of European countries, who frankly all have an extremely low opinion of both Trump and the war, to send their ships to help? Perhaps if he had briefed European countries, and planned for if the Strait was closed, we could’ve deployed the necessary assets beforehand and been prepared for this. But had the US properly consulted with its allies, and not spent a year insulting and threatening to invade them, perhaps there would be more willingness to help. Getting ships to start moving and to protect ships. Pakistan has deployed a couple ships as well and again not part of a US operation with end result being the same getting ships moving.
