1. I'll tell you a story. It was the year 2018 and the time of Ramadan, in Minna. I was volunteering with a community group called SISTERS CLOSET, run by Barr. Zahida and a host of other wonderful females. We were called about a missing girl somewhere around Bosso.

A big part of loving someone that people often overlook is knowing they might be willing to do something reckless for you and caring enough not to let them. Love is also having the restraint not to exploit it and choosing their well being over your own ego boost.

Before I begin to heavily promote my upcoming collection of poems, I thought I'd share these pics of a brilliant anthology resulting from the Flame Tree Writers Workshop, founded and run by Abubakar Adam Ibrahim. Every single story within is a gem. You can read a hard copy for free at @SpineandLabel Bookstore (at the reading corner), or (legally) download a PDF from the Heinrich Boll Foundation's website. Brilliant work from upcoming young writers from Northern Nigeria guided by a genius. PS. If you've read this far, slide into my DMs. The first 3 will snag a FREE copy. Abuja residents only, and you'd have to drop by Spine & Label Bookstore to pick up. Giveaway expires in 24 hours

After successfully completing his NYSC service in Kebbi State, he was abducted on the road from Sokoto to zamfara. Today, we thank the Almighty for his release and safe return. May Allah heal him from this ordeal and protect all travelers on our roads. Welcome home, Abba!

Sometimes, I wonder if mosquitoes see me and think, "yuck! That blood is going nowhere near my proboscis" If only I could converse with one, ask it what it is about me that makes it refuse to suck my blood. And I am AA fa, you should love blood like mine. Right?

"On my way to work this morning in Tsakuwa, I passed through Dawakin Kudu and noticed the Dawakin Kudu Satellite Library. Since today happens to be #WorldBookDay, I thought I should stop and take a look. When I stepped inside, the place was completely empty. Not a single soul. The books sitting on the five shelves were buried under a layer of dust, as if no one had touched them in ages. The offices were locked. The only thing that looked somewhat alive was the seating area, which was surprisingly clean. On those shelves were old encyclopedias and some early editions of Hausa classics like Hausawa da Maƙwabtansu and Tafiya Mabuɗin Ilimi. After some few minutes, Yusuf, the librarian appeared. He had noticed me from outside and came in. He has been holding charge in that library since 1996, though the library itself was established in 1985. He told me he is retiring next year, and you could sense the worry in his voice when he spoke about it. He genuinely does not know what will become of the place when he leaves. Right now he runs everything alone. He is the librarian, the cleaner, the caretaker. Everything. The building itself tells its own story. It is an old mud structure that used to serve as a Native Authority administrative office many years ago. Time has not been kind to it. The walls are tired, the place feels forgotten, and it has clearly been in disrepair for a long while. And the saddest part is that nobody seems to come there anymore. Standing in that quiet room today, it really did feel like the book as a medium has quietly died in this country." - Shamsuddeen Sani on Facebook: facebook.com/share/p/1Fm8QG…

Let me try to explain. You know the popular saying that goes, when you empower a woman, you empower a nation. That’s the idea behind the "Give to Gain” theme It just simply means investing time, resources, and opportunities in women and girls strengthens communities and benefits everyone in general.

I nearly thought I was going crazy cause I did my research and all my communications materials went out with Rights. Justice. Action. Cause if we think about it, what is give to gain?
