@SaintsExtra Has there ever been a better example of why you should wait until the end of the season before putting together a shortlist?!

HT: Wrexham 1-2 Saints. Enjoyable half of football for the neutrals, I'm sure. Saints raced to a two-goal lead as Wrexham were absolutely rubbish but it's more of a game since. Windass goal should not have stood, clear Moore foul, but that's the way it goes sometimes. #SaintsFC

@RupertLowe10 Fuck off Rupert. You were clueless when you were chairman of Southampton, and your wisdom has not increased with age and experience!

I couldn’t care less what Kanye West says or does. If Brits want to part with their money to watch him shout into a microphone, let them. He’s a nutcase. But it should be up to those people who purchased a ticket if they attend his events. Not Starmer. Banning him is too far.

@nikkidunagan Funny that, because my late father in law was helping out at the Open Championship 30 years ago and said that all the players were polite except Couples, who was rude and ignorant!

When I was six years old, I went to the Masters for the first time with my grandpa. Fred Couples tossed me a ball and instantly secured himself as my favorite player. 20+ years later and my child is now six. We happened to walk up on Fred as he was heading out for his practice round. My son got to meet him and get his autograph. There's magic in this place. 🌺

The FA are currently looking at which day has the most rail disruptions and the earliest return train to Manchester so they can allocate that day to the semi final for City.

@umirf1 Umir, here’s a suggestion. Poll EFL Championship season ticket holders and ask whether we would rather have the current, imperfect, referees making the final decision, or VAR. I think you might educate yourself

Easy to forget just how many obvious errors slipped through the cracks in a pre-VAR world. With how much coverage we have of football now, real possibility people would tired fast and wish for the alternative regardless of what’s in place. Easier to focus on what doesn’t work.
Matt Slater@mjshrimper

I admit it - I thought VAR would make a positive difference. I was wrong. I think we should scrap it. Not tweak it. Just scrap it. Looks like a lot of you agree. nytimes.com/athletic/71560…

Premier League fans deliver damning verdict on VAR. 75% of 7,946 fans polled by the Football Supporters’ Association “didn’t support the use of VAR”. Too long, too forensic, too much of a joy killer, fans say. Findings shared with Premier League and PGMO. 92% of fans surveyed “agreed” that “VAR has removed the spontaneous joy of goal celebrations” (82% of them “strongly agreed”). 85% of match-going fans “strongly disagreed” with the notion that “VAR makes watching football more enjoyable”. And 83% of those watching on TV. 85% of match-going fans “strongly disagreed” that “VAR decisions are generally resolved in a reasonable amount of time”. Echoed by 83% of those watching on TV. Only 18% agreed that “VAR has improved the overall accuracy of refereeing decisions”. 72% are “concerned about the expansion of VAR beyond its current remit”. 79% “strongly disagreed” with the suggestion “that the match-going experience is better with VAR”. 67% “strongly agreed” that they preferred “watching games that are played without VAR to games with VAR”. 84% “strongly support” goal-line technology. 34% “strongly opposed” to the idea of a challenge system (two per game per team). “These findings back up the FSA's previous survey in 2021, where fans expressed misgivings about the introduction of VAR,” says Thomas Concannon, @WeAreTheFSAPremier League network manager. “The vast majority are reporting the same concerns five years on - the loss of spontaneity when celebrating goals, and an overall worsening of the match-going experience. We have shared the survey results with the Premier League and PGMO, and look forward to discussing its findings with them.” Fans surveyed of all PL clubs and all ages (Under-18 to 65+).

If only there was a major high profile league in England which played well-attended games at a high professional standard every week without VAR, to remind us of “what it was like before”. The refereeing in the EFL Championship is far from perfect, but ask any season ticket holder if they want VAR…

I spent a long time in football as chairman of Southampton. Proper fans, proper sport. I loved it. It brings people together in a special way. Not always positively towards the chairman, it must be said. But our sport is being increasingly used as a political tool to force this guff on people who just don’t want to hear it. The fans. Taking the knee, all this diversity bollocks being pushed at each and every turn. I hated it when I was chairman, and I certainly hate it now. Take this Reform politician welcomed on stage by Farage this week who founded his club in the North East ‘as a BAME football club’, with the ‘specific aim of integrating the fragmented Indian community’. His words... A club specifically founded for black, asian and ethnic minorities. A club for Indians. Anti-white racism. Pure and simple. Why do we tolerate it? A Restore Britain Government would stop it. Because it’s not just this Reform bloke, this filth is everywhere. Jobs across the football pyramid banning white men from applying. It’s outright racism. But apparently when it’s white blokes on the receiving end nobody cares? I wonder how many young white men have been overlooked for job opportunities in the industry because of the colour of their skin. In the clubs, and certainly in the media. Thousands and thousands and thousands. It’s going to get worse and worse with this new Government regulator being forced on football. Trust me. It will not stop. Nobody cares about all this nonsense. Fans want to go to the football, have a few pints, enjoy the game. Good. Let them. Clubs need to start listening to them, because they’re the ones funding the whole operation. And the fans don’t want any of it. None of the politics. Not at the stadium. Not on the TV. There is now a party that represents those football fans who want to enjoy their sport without the incessant lectures, irritating political campaigning and outright anti-white racism. Restore Britain.

@RupertLowe10 I wouldn’t invoke your Southampton experience as anything positive, if I were you! It just makes you look like a fool as you did a terrible job here, showed horrendous judgement and left the club in an awful financial mess. Not a great legacy is it Rupert?
