FREE STATE DETECTIVE ARRESTED IN SUCCESSFUL ANTI-CORRUPTION UNDERCOVER ENTRAPMENT OPERATION In a swift and decisive blow against internal corruption, members of the Free State Police Anti-Corruption Unit successfully arrested a 43-year-old Detective Sergeant for extortion and corruption. The arrest took place on Friday, 10 July 2026 during a planned undercover entrapment operation that was carried out behind Sasolburg police station. It is alleged that on Sunday, 5 July 2026, the suspect (a detective) visited the 41 years old complainant’s home in Zamdela looking for him, but he was not home. The detective returned the on Monday 6 July 2026, and informed the complainant that a case of assault had been opened against him. Instead of processing the matter legally, the detective told the complainant that "there is no case" and suggested they could "work something out" to prevent his arrest. The complainant was coerced into sending R2 000 via electronic funds transfer(EFT). The extortion escalated on Wednesday, 8 July 2026, when the detective returned and claimed that the prosecutor demanded a further R10,000 to drop the charges. The complainant stated he did not have the funds but promised to make an arrangement. The matter was brought to the attention of the Free State Anti-Corruption Unit. A formal entrapment operation was authorized and executed on Friday afternoon. The detective met the complainant to collect the money, and immediately after the exchange, the detective was arrested. The marked entrapment money was recovered in his possession. The Provincial Commissioner of the Free State, Lieutenant General Thabang Lesia, strongly condemned the actions of the member, reiterating that the organization has zero tolerance for criminal elements within its ranks. "We will not allow the badge to be tarnished by individuals who choose to abuse their authority for personal greed," said Lieutenant General Lesia. “This successful operation sends a clear message to all members that corruption will be rooted out without fear or favor. I commend the Anti-Corruption Unit for their swift action. We are fully committed to cleaning up our ranks and restoring public trust in the South African Police Service." The suspect is expected to appear in the Sasolburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday 13 July 2026 on charges of corruption and extortion.

@ewnupdates The Immigration Act says illegal foreigners must be encouraged to depart voluntarily. They cant work, they cant rent, they must stay and do what?As a suggestions, can these NGOs depart with them and go help them in their countries cause that is clearly where the biggest need is.

@ms_tourist If I was a criminal, I would hide in SA, honestly. If you become smart you could even have NGOs, media, some police general and politicians protecting you. Even when your money allows it even the Constitutional Court will be on your side.

I jokingly posted that the UK fugitive wanted for allegedly wiping out his entire family was hiding in South Africa. To my horror, that’s exactly where he was found. It’s safe to say , South Africa has become a safe haven for some of the world’s most wanted criminals. Here is the list below; 1. Nelson Simiao Masango A convicted murderer who escaped during the mass prison break in Maputo and was later arrested in Sandton. 2. An unnamed Chinese fraud suspect Arrested in Sandton in 2025 after an INTERPOL Red Notice identified him while he was applying for a U.S. visa. 3. Benjamin Leslie May Accused of involvement in a UK cocaine trafficking conspiracy, he allegedly fled to Cape Town before being arrested and later extradited to the UK. 4. Radovan Krejčíř One of the most notorious international fugitives to live in South Africa. He fled the Czech Republic in 2005, settled in Johannesburg, and was later convicted in South Africa on unrelated charges. 5. Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma Arrested in Johannesburg after allegedly fleeing the UK following the deaths of his wife and two daughters. Authorities are pursuing extradition.
