@techguy The tech giants get away with doing very profitable/illegal things and so startups have no hope competing with them legally eg. Google sells adverts to referral agents that masquerade as free helplines for drug addicts etc. mhealthinsight.com/2018/02/07/et-…

@mHealthInsight That's a good point. Although, there are other places they can make money that aren't as direct as this. For example, what's it worth to inform a drug trial or something like that? Or to create an AI model?

It never ceases to amaze me how I continue to get new companies pitching me a portable medical record for patients. Obviously, a huge problem to solve and obviously something that hasn't been solved (or isn't solvable or isn't worth solving given the costs)?

@techguy The problem is if they were honest with Patients (a basic requirement to have their trust) they'd have to say we used your data here's $25. The user was an insurance company that used that data to justify an increase in your premium by $150. See the issue?

@mHealthInsight Right, but I still argue that in aggregate, that's worth a lot. If they were to actually share those profits with patients, it wouldn't amount to much per patient. Hey, can we use your health data? Sure Here's $5.78. That's your portion.

@techguy these big data firms are not just using the data to help the Patient but also in more profitable applications eg. help other companies like insurers to maximise their profits by quickly making more accurate risk calculations, new ways to dispute/deny claims, etc.

@mHealthInsight Another piece of this puzzle, but that was aggregate data. Not onesie twosie patient aggregation of their own data. Plus, even if you share the revenue of using patient data with the patient, individually it's not enough for the patient to care (generally).

In this Mobile World Congress interview from 2009 I talk about documented Mobile Video Doctor Consults (@3GDoctor), Mobile HealthPassports, the need for mobile to connect coded PCR Test Kits with Doctors & the opportunity for the @UN to do good with MNOs vimeo.com/3909405

Join me tomorrow for the @digitalesector '5G & Health' talk when I'm going to be discussing why 5G is the world's most censored conspiracy theory & how a few 10 second videos of people falling over in China sent the world crazy... mhealthinsight.com/2020/10/20/joi… #mHealth #NLDigital

Once again Facebook is the main platform for anti-vaccine nonsense. One Devon anti-5G FB group with c700 members is full of "covid is a hoax, vaccines and 5G are about mind control" posts. Claims it "serves up the research on a plate" to people who don't have time. Dangerous

A decade on and the Irish Healthcare service hasn't managed to set up SMS appointment reminder services but people are surprised that they have no idea how to make contact tracing work 🤣 mhealthinsight.com/2011/02/25/why… #mHealth
Rory Cellan-Jones@ruskin147

thetimes.co.uk/article/corona… Ireland's contact tracing system - which was coping well - now seems to be buckling, similar story in Germany. Is this the moment when apps which automate the process come into their own?

Video consults with random Doctors are seances with psychopaths: "Hello R U there?" "Are U alone?" "R U addicted to Porn?" "Do U use skin lightening products?” "What do U love about being in a family?” "Do U have a rubber tube in your urethra?" mhealthinsight.com/2015/03/17/a-d… #mHealth

Horrifying to see Patients abusing their NHS GP clinic. I wonder if it might be rooted in the move to online during #COVID19 lockdown & the complete lack of proper training that GPs have had in the use of the tools of our time? mhealthinsight.com/2018/01/30/rcg… #mHealth
Royal College of General Practitioners@rcgp

We’re so sorry to see this. It’s completely unacceptable for GPs and other practice team members to be targeted with this kind of abuse. General practice is making more patient consultations than before #COVID19 with more than 400,000 face to face every day.

Who are the smartest, quippiest experts on FDA + Software as a Medical Device? I've been at this for a while so I know a few -- but would like to know everyone. Who would you suggest?
