#Bitcoin lets you own the product of your labor in a way that no one else can plunder. And to fully own the fruits of your own labor in this way is necessary for fully owning yourself. This is why we have a popular adage among Bitcoiners: "everyone gets Bitcoin at the price they deserve."
How about: innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, in a court of law, as determined by a jury of peers, with a right to expert counsel, to see the evidence brought by the state, to present exculpatory evidence and to cross examine witnesses against him?
@BretWeinstein@catgirl_246 You say "everyone" yet only extend this charity so vocally when it's someone who is on your side.
Don't see you saying this for anyone on the left.
Costs for GPT4 vs a human for support roles (very rough numbers):
Assume a human costs $40/hr. If they have 25 conversations/hr that’s $1.60/convo.
Assume a conversation with a GPT4 rep consumes 25k tokens. Thats $.75/convo.
That puts GPT4 at 47% of the cost of a human today.
We voted for Brexit so that Britain could escape draconian, intrusive, illiberal legislation like internet censorship and boiler bans, not so we could try to outdo them. It was about liberty, not GDP. Brexit hasn't failed. It has been utterly betrayed.
@Molson_Hart Technology only makes the things that technology produces cheaper over time. And it's successful at that.
The gains aren't in the price tag, they are in what you get for the price.
$1000 laptop 20 years ago vs one now. Manufacturers don't want to produce outdated tech.
Everything is supposed to get cheaper all the time.
We've been mindfucked into thinking that everything is supposed to get more expensive all the time.
Technology should be making everything cheaper all the time.
Yes, even housing and real estate.

@lukner@AJKayWriter Two real world examples: I have a friend who is deaf in one ear, and relies a lot on facial expressions and lip reading. When people wear masks she can't even talk to them.
Another is a non-native English speaker w/same issue, struggles hard when face is covered.
@lukner@AJKayWriter They also clearly state that the "harms were under investigated".
There are harms to wearing a mask, that people like you take too lightly imo. It's not just physical discomfort, it's anti-social and alienating. It makes communicating with others difficult or even impossible.
With new mask mandates popping up, two things are incumbent upon dissidents:
1. Do not comply
It’s easy to think we all have the one legit reason that justifies compliance but the reality is that everyone thinking their circumstances were exceptional or reassuring themselves with “just this once” is how they got away with it the first time. Cancel your plans. Shop elsewhere. Switch schools. I know it’s easier said than done but the alternative in a world in which masks are the norm.
We cannot prevail without a collective willingness to sacrifice.
2. Let the biz/org/school/Dr know you’re leaving and why.
Flat out refusal makes an unambiguous, real time statement but another, less confrontational route is to avoid the org/biz/service requiring masks.
If you do avoid, be sure to leave an online review or send an email or make a phone call or tell them in person why. It’s critical that there’s no ambiguity that masks are the reason you are refusing to do business/canceling your appt/withdrawing your patronage.
Manufacturing an illusion of consensus is easy when people stay quiet.
It’s almost impossible when opposition becomes vocal & explicit.
@MrAndyNgo Is nuance allowed here?
Can you think this person is awful and still shouldn't die? That the police officers had no reason to draw a gun over petty theft?
They have her license. If she drives off, who cares? Get an arrest warrant and deal with it.
Officials in Blendon Township, Ohio are bracing for potential #BLM rioting after a 21-year-old pregnant woman was shot dead by police on Aug 24. The body camera footage has just been released.
Officers responded to an alcohol theft call at Kroger when Ta'Kiya Young accelerated her car into an officer. Young's family has lawyered up and is calling for the prosecution of the officer who shot her. Barricades were placed around the statehouse downtown today.
@OldNorthwestIL@DouglasKMurray@nypost And you think liberals are naive and idealistic.
No institution will ever be what you want, because they will be run by flawed humans.
@DouglasKMurray@nypost "They want to blow up half this country’s institutions..."
Half the institutions are working against the citizenry. The institutions need to go. Replace them, if necessary, with worthy institutions working honestly, transparently, and in ways undeniably beneficial to the people.
‘There is a type of conservative who has become a type of revolutionary. They want to blow up half this country’s institutions and tear down the other half. Not unlike their opponents on the left.’ @nypost nypost.com/2023/09/07/pen…
