A 31-year-old woman who was killed in a horrific alligator attack while swimming in central Florida has been identified as Brittany Clark, with newly released details revealing her boyfriend fought the animal in a desperate attempt to save her life. Clark was swimming in the Econlockhatchee River in Little Big Econ State Forest on Sunday afternoon with her boyfriend, Chance Allison, and a friend when a 12-foot alligator attacked. According to a medical examiner’s report, the alligator grabbed Clark by the arm before dragging her underwater in a “death roll” – a technique used by alligators to subdue and drown prey. The report states that Allison grabbed the alligator and fought to free Clark as both were pulled underwater. He briefly managed to force the animal to release one arm, but it immediately seized her other arm before eventually letting go. Allison and the couple’s friend then pulled Clark to shore and began CPR while calling 911. In distressing emergency call audio released earlier, Allison can be heard telling the operator he was “still trying to get her arms away from the alligator’s mouth” before saying, “Both her arms are off.” A friend told the dispatcher one arm was “hanging by a thread” while the other was “gone”. Authorities later tracked down the alligator involved in the attack, euthanised it and retained its head as evidence as part of the investigation. Barr Street Trailhead, near where the attack occurred, remains closed while officials continue their inquiries. #Florida #Alligator
