I'd like to have a substantive conversation about this with Carolina Forward, but they have blocked me. I live in Cherokee County. It is a poor county. It's never been a rich county. BUT, here's the vicious cycle which perpetuates the loop of poverty-you can't attract businesses/jobs if you have no work force housing. You can't have work force housing without the incentive of jobs. Something has to happen to stop the cycle. There's no excuse not to be courting businesses/plants associated with large companies when you're less than 100 miles from Atlanta, GA, Asheville,NC, Greenville, SC, Knoxville, TN-except there's no housing for workers. A construction program is full swing to teach young people how to build homes at the local community college. The housing they build will be sold at a reduced cost to buyers. The challenge is-they can only build a maximum of 7 a year. That's not enough to help other than to train carpenters, HVAC techs and electricians. Investors aren't investing in the community for workers. They're investing for retirees. What do retirees get? Medicare and Medicaid. There's approximately 500 miles in Cherokee County. Most of it is extremely rural. 23% of the county doesn't even have access to internet services without satellite. Those same 23% have NO LANLine services. Online work is out of the question for 1/4 of the county. There are many contributing factors. There's a brand group of commissioners at the county level. Expect taxes to go up and more people to be on government assistance when people lose their family properties to pay the increase in taxes.

As far right influencers turn on Trump, they will lose MAGA, but pick up anti-Trump moderates and liberals. In turn, don't be surprised if some "resist libs" move to the right to pick up the audience conservative influencers lost. They'll claim Trump "had some good points" and "the left lost me." This has already started on both the left and right, and will intensify as Trump spirals, the Iran debacle worsens, inflation rises, and Democrats look to hammer the GOP in the midterms. A lot of people on both ends of the horseshoe will be vulnerable and disappointed - easy marks for new grifters telling them what they want to hear. The only real difference is that the far right isn't turning on conservatism, they're turning on Trump - because he's not fascist enough. The far left will absolutely be turning on liberalism, because once Trump is gone, so too is the easy money in resisting him. The exact same thing cycle played out with COVID, and it will happen again.
