Showing ID to buy Alcohol involves the ID not being stored digitally ... or at least you can know for sure it's seen but forgotten after. Digital ID you can't be 100% sure is stored or not which puts people at further risk if where the ID is stored is hacked into. It's also invasive in every other way. This is straight up China but a little less extreme.

Back door to Digital ID? Some are asking if the under-16s social media ban is a backdoor to Digital ID? As far as Kemi and the Conservatives are concerned, absolutely not. We are entirely opposed to digital ID and want to see the ban implemented in a way that doesn’t force mandatory digital ID onto anyone. Proving your age for social media should be no more intrusive than it is for buying alcohol.
