The Stop Killing Games (SKG) campaign is gaining momentum again in the UK. Organizers say the movement’s UK petition is "not dead,” and campaign representatives will be in London on March 22 to take part in roundtable discussions representing the initiative. The UK petition originally ran alongside the much larger EU Stop Killing Games initiative (ECI), which has gathered nearly 1.3 million verified signatures across Europe. In the UK, the campaign saw strong support, reaching nearly 190,000 signatures — well above the 100,000 threshold required for parliamentary consideration. That milestone led to a debate in the UK Parliament in early November 2025, where lawmakers discussed the broader issue of digital ownership and the growing concerns around publishers shutting down games and servers. While the debate acknowledged the issue, no concrete laws or regulations were introduced at the time. However, the UK government did recognize the concern, stating that “digital ownership must be respected.” Despite that statement, campaigners have argued that meaningful protections for consumers and game preservation are still missing. Now, the movement appears to be reigniting its push in the UK. With campaign representatives attending roundtables in London later this month, supporters hope the discussions could bring the issue back into focus among policymakers and industry stakeholders.
