Trans trailblazer Lance Reblando condemned violence within the LGBTQ+ community, issuing a statement following a resurfaced incident involving "Drag Race PH" S3 winner Maxie Andreison physically assaulting a trans woman three years ago.
Taking to social media, Reblando expressed disappointment and heartbreak over the issue, which reportedly involved Andreison kicking and slapping a trans woman after a drag event.
"Kahit saang anggulo naman tingnan, hindi kailanman magiging valid ang violence at pananakit lalo na ng babae," Reblando began, emphasizing that physical harm can never be justified under any circumstance.
For Reblando, the incident is a major blow to a community that continues to fight for survival and safe spaces in a restrictive society.
Reblando also lamented how internal violence undermines the collective struggle for queer rights, questioning how the community can move forward when its own members turn against each other.
Reblando added, urging public figures to be more mindful of the examples they set.
Concluding the post with a call for accountability and self-reflection, Reblando wrote, "Umuunlad ang tao, oo, pero kung in a span of how many weeks ay ganito na ang degree mo ng pagpapakilala, hindi ko na alam. Siguro makakatulong ang kaunting respeto sa sarili. Baka naman gumana."
Reblando ended the statement with the hashtag #protectthedolls, a phrase widely used by the community and allies to advocate for the safety and protection of transgender women.
Following the resurfaced incident, Maxie took to Instagram Live to claim that she has since apologized to the victim, alleging that they have moved on from the issue. Unconfirmed reports circulating online claim otherwise.
