@MathsImpact @OliverMoyles Do you store in the fridge? This seems to work for us and we only make coffee at weekends.

@OliverMoyles No, but that would be my preference because beans stay fresh for longer, I don't drink coffee fast enough to get through a whole bag before it starts losing its flavour.

Coffee drinking Twitter, can anyone recommend a cheap bean to cup machine which makes OK coffee? I'm not fussy, just would like to replace my pod machine with something similarly convenient.

@H_Miss88 #edutooter on mastodon… Myself I teach to the end as I can’t stand chaos! Might involve a computing themed quiz or the pirate game in maths though….

If Twitter collapses in the next couple of days, how are we going to know which teachers are doing proper lessons right up until Christmas?

@LeedsTeacher I swap a calculator for a phone, when they return the calculator they get their phone back. Still got my set a year later!

Maths teachers help - I’m getting a full complement of calculators for my dept and need to minimise breakage/vandalism. My idea is to label each calc (1 to 30) and label desks in each room (1 to 30) so each kid is accountable for their numbered calc. Thoughts?

@miss_mcinerney @TeacherTapp Gave students in revision this week the choice of opening the bourbons, chocolate digestives or cookies and the chocolate digestives won with them too….

Had a really interesting chat about alternative methods with my year 10 today. What do you think the most efficient way to solve this is?

@michael_merrick The hw I set for maths is online as it allows me to target the topics they need to go over, and has support built in @DrFrostMaths It can also be done on a phone. I make myself available at breaks for anyone who needs help with it or IT access. Pupil feedback is very positive!

@TeacherTapp Well at least I can see the paper that’s jammed! (Unlike ours that likes to claim there is a jam with no evidence at all!) @OwenEngLiteracy

@miss_mcinerney @TeacherTapp I prefer to “mark” by circulating while pupils are working as that way I can respond there and then and they are more receptive to learn from it. I put teaching but lesson planning is v close.

@RetirementTales “One more step along the world I go” was the go to end of school year hymn in my primary school.

I have been passing on all of your school hymn requests to Margaret, for her assembly planning. Margaret has asked me to point out that, if you were one of the children who used to sing "I am the Lord of the Dance settee", then you are confusing theology and Sofology.

@MctagueDavid @notgotaminute @whisto_maths @WRMathsSec From the mapping I’ve done upto y9 it covers everything. And the way WRM uses manipulatives and visual representations seems to fit well with the proficiencies. Needs more tweaking at gcse, particularly if you want to be able to do numeracy in Nov y11, that’s our work in progress

@miss_mcinerney We don’t have a sixth form anymore. So I picked my favourite out of what was possible… Used to enjoy teaching A level!

This is interesting… there’s a belief in secondary school management that A-level teaching is important for recruitment as it’s seen as the favourite key stage. Yet KS4 looks to be the winner. (I agree: Yr10 ftw).

@geomathsblog @MrWiseCHS I’m struggling a little with the sequencing of topics part. We’ve been using White Rose and adapting but it doesn’t really work with plans for numeracy gcse in Nov Y11 that we want to go back to. Would love to see what other Welsh schools are doing.

Curriculum planning: I'm getting my head around a model to work with that shows the different levels of curriculum. What do you think? @MrWiseCHS

@Sheena2907 My dad is a grand master at “resting an eye” when sitting down after a meal. Definitely not sleeping 😂

@quantumdotty But naps in bed and sleeps on the sofa are OK? It's just a minefield really 😂

Not according to Google but according to you. When does a nap become a sleep?

@Sheena2907 Yep! I’d probably also say that naps can be anywhere (eg sofa 🛋 ) but sleeps are generally in bed 🛌
