maybe now is the time we admit that media impartiality is a myth, and a dangerous one at that. there is absolutely no such thing as unbiased reporting. of anything, at any level, ever. very important we realise this. the arbiter of impartiality is the arbiter of the status quo

@robbusblobbus i can’t explain why but this building has your energy. i choose to believe this is what your workplace looks like and i am not interested in any facts to the contrary

@claire_h_e not done this specifically but you could let the ESL learners work in pairs, or give the native speakers a hard time limit? or double points for ESL, but that might feel unfair for the native speakers. maybe double points for ESL learners if they can define the word in English?

has anyone played scrabble with a mix of native speakers and ESL intermediate learners - if so what handicaps do you introduce to make it fairer but still fun?

that said... choosing to respond to protest not by hearing or reacting to the issues raised but instead outlawing the act itself is like.. pretty textbook authoritarian and fucking scary lmao. the fact ppl seem be in support of it is even scarier

once again worth restating that comparing things the british government does to e.g. north korea, venezuela, as opposed to accepting that this is what the british government is, and has always been, is unhelpful. horrible, horrible little plague island to its core

dont know how else to put this, but as men - we are factually not women. we do not share the same struggle. constantly trying to position ourselves there is harmful. as a male-dominated group, it is still up to us to reflect and have these converstions, and ultimately do better

aside from the fact that, as men, we will never, ever, not pose a threat to women - we do regularly overstep marks in ways which perhaps straight men don't. we seem to believe we have a free pass - that we're "one of the girls". why would this mean we can blur boundaries anyway?

feel it's high time the gay community had a serious reflection + discussion about our relationship with women. just because we *feel* we don't pose a threat, this doesnt mean that our interactions with and discussions about women aren't tarred with a deep rot of misogyny

you ever find it weird that, yes, you take on the mannerisms + linguistic quirks of your friends subconsciously, but this also logically means they do the same with you?? like - what are my mannerisms??? what are they like with other people?? who's accommodating more here?? aaaaa
