You do not simply find the marriage and family you hope to have. You create it.

I know many who struggle with perfectionism. Around the Church I hear many who struggle with this issue: “I am just not good enough.” “I fall so far short.” “I will never measure up.” I hear this from teenagers. I hear it from missionaries. I hear it from new converts. I hear it from lifelong members. As children of God, we should not demean or vilify ourselves, as if beating up on ourselves is somehow going to make us the person God wants us to become. With a willingness to repent and a desire for increased righteousness always in our hearts, I would hope we could pursue personal improvement in a way that doesn’t include excessive guilt trips or demolishing our self-esteem. I believe that Jesus intended the commandment “be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father … in heaven is perfect” (Matthew 5:48) to be a tribute to who and what God the Eternal Father is and what we can achieve with Him in eternity, not a harsh verbal reminder of our shortcomings. Except for Jesus, there have been no flawless performances on this earthly journey we are pursuing, so while in mortality let’s strive for steady improvement without obsessing about being perfect.

🔗: bit.ly/3VEDvCt Micah Beckstead and Faʻafeai Anita Muliselu agree it was no coincidence they were led to serve in the same mission. Brother and sister, the two were adopted young by different families and grew up on separate continents. When they finally saw each other as full-time missionaries in the Samoa Apia Mission, they didn’t hesitate to walk up to each other for a long-awaited embrace. The rejoined brother and sister kept in contact, occasionally seeing each other at missionary meetings or through Sister Muliselu’s traveling responsibilities as a sister training leader. Their rediscovered connection strengthened their service as servants of the Lord. For Sister Muliselu, serving with her brother has been nothing short of a tender mercy: “The Lord knows us individually, personally and wholeheartedly,” she said. “He knew me best by calling my brother to the mission at the same time.” Click the link above to read more about the siblings being reunited. 📸: Provided by Sister Fa'afeai Anita Muliselu and Priscilla Beckstead

Two days after President @NelsonRussellM announced 15 new temple locations and spoke of the importance of the ordinances, covenants and blessings available through temple work and worship, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints opened the doors to its new Taylorsville Utah Temple on Tuesday, April 9. “The temple is the gateway to the greatest blessings God has in store for each of us. The temple is the only place on earth where we may receive all of the blessings promised to Abraham,” said President Nelson, with the 15 announced temples bringing the Church’s total to 350 temples dedicated, under construction and announced. The Taylorsville Utah Temple will become the Church’s 192nd dedicated temple in early June. Years ago, Sister Nelson and I visited Machu Picchu high in the mountains of Perú. We marveled at what we experienced. While we marvel at the accomplishments of men and women, all of that pales when compared with the creations and works of our loving Heavenly Father and His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ. On this—my 100th New Year’s Day—I both marvel and rejoice at the miracle of the birth of Jesus Christ, His life, His ministry, His mission, and more. I marvel at the miracles required for the Prophet Joseph Smith to translate and publish the Book of Mormon, and I rejoice at the Restoration of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I marvel at the faith of devoted Latter-day Saints around the world and rejoice that I have been blessed to meet countless individuals who have made my life so much richer. I marvel at our Heavenly Father’s plan of happiness and rejoice that families truly can be together forever. May we strive this new year to marvel and rejoice at the privileges and opportunities our Father in Heaven and our Redeemer Jesus Christ provide.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Elder Patrick Kearon (@patrickkearon) has been called as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was called on Thursday, December 7, 2023, and ordained later that day by President @NelsonRussellM and the other members of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.  The Quorum of the Twelve Apostles is the second-highest presiding body in the government of the Church. In addition to their primary responsibility to be special witnesses of the name of Christ throughout the world, these Apostles have significant administrative responsibilities in overseeing the operation and development of a global Church. They serve under the direction of the First Presidency, which includes the Church President and two counselors.  newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.org/article/elder-…
