If this happens, it could be similar to the story of Jürgen Klopp. Mainz were battling relegation and they just sacked their coach. They had a game the next day, and the owner/SD told Klopp to take over the game. Klopp won the game and then won 6 out of 7 games. He saved them from relegation. I watched the documentary on Amazon Prime few months ago. The story is even funnier, let me elaborate. It was their 3rd manager of the season, and the club was in a mess. The manager then asked the players that, do they have confidence in him? He told them to decide while he exited the room. The players decided that NO, they do not have confidence in him, and it was Klopp, the most senior player, that told the manager what they decided. Manager was angry, he told them to meet him in training next day at 9am. He also called the SD and suggested to the SD that they should sack all the senior players and bring in the youth players, the SD and owner had a big decision, who will they choose? Senior players or Manager? The players were chosen and manager sacked. While Klopp was on the phone with the SD, SD said they will look for a new manager, but can Klopp handle the game tomorrow, that’s how Klopp started winning. He won 6 out 7, interim manager became permanent 😅 His next full season, he missed promotion on the last day on goal difference I guess. The following season, he missed promotion on the last day again. The 3rd time, he promoted Mainz to the Bundesliga for the first time in their history. What a story!
