@osasuo @CAF_Online Guys, those that don't know. Osamu is one of the most respected pundits in CAF. I respect him, and so is my chairman, Dr Khoza. That said, can he point out the wrongs and the corrects about Motsepe. Lastly, tell us which administrator has done better in African sports than him.

"Patrice Motsepe has taken @CAF_Online from the doldrums and has made CAF into one of the best organisations...There is an element in certain countries in #Africa that want to undermine his leadership and underestimate his leadership. I want to be clear to those countries - we are not a beggar country... We will never allow you ill-treat President Motsepe..." - @GaytonMcK, #SouthAfrica's Sports Minister, at the @SAFA_net congress on Sunday. Do you agree or disagree with this statement. And which country or countries was McKenzie referring to? 🤔

This is what I always talk about on this platform when engaging with my South African friends, that illegal immigration is not just about illegal immigrants themselves. It is also about corrupt South African government officials working in immigration, the police and related departments. If South African immigration officials, police officers and border authorities stopped taking bribes from illegal immigrants, half, or even 75%, of the problem would already be solved. Buses pass through Beitbridge carrying people without proper documentation, and in some cases without passports at all, because corrupt officials are bribed to look the other way. That is the uncomfortable truth many people do not want to confront. I was in Johannesburg two weeks ago speaking to an immigration expert who told me that in places like Hillbrow, police vans routinely pick up illegal immigrants, drive a short distance around the corner, and collect around R4,000 from each person in exchange for releasing them. That is how illegal immigration is sustained. It is not sustained by foreigners alone. It is sustained by corruption within South African institutions themselves. So the conversation must move beyond insulting people because of their nationality. Focus on the system. Focus on the corruption. Focus on the officials enabling it. I partly live in South Africa legally. My papers are in order. I obey the law. Yet many legal immigrants are insulted purely because of where they come from, despite having committed no crime. That is unfair, irrational and dangerous. Yes, the root causes of migration are often found in countries such as Zimbabwe and Mozambique, where economic collapse, corruption and dysfunctional governance force people to flee in search of survival. But once people reach the South African border, how exactly are they getting through checkpoints staffed by officials? How are they obtaining South African documents? Foreigners are not printing South African passports themselves. South Africans inside the system are facilitating this criminality. This is why the sentencing of former Home Affairs official Judith Zuma to an effective 12 years in prison for selling passports is such an important case. Personally, I think crimes like this deserve even harsher punishment because they undermine national security, public trust and the rule of law itself. If South Africa genuinely wants to deal with illegal immigration, it must deal with the entire chain. Yes, address instability and governance failures in neighbouring countries. But also confront the corruption inside South Africa that makes illegal entry and fraudulent documentation possible in the first place. And South Africans should ask themselves difficult but necessary questions. Why is it extremely difficult for someone to walk into Britain and fraudulently obtain a British passport, yet stories of fraudulent South African documentation emerge so frequently? What systems are failing? Who is protecting these syndicates? Who is profiting from this chaos? Those are the critical questions that need honest answers.

With the challenges in the Middle East your option is oil import and re-open refineries. You will have fuel and you will create jobs by opening refineries. Sasol can’t do it alone. We need more refineries. We have to be proactive as Africa. All countries are going through economic and social challenges that is why movement of people and countries that are industrialised will attract migrants. Secondly its time that political leaders understand that political stability leads to prosperity and it’s important to respect democratic values and systems because if they don’t their citizens will flee their countries and that poses a challenge to other countries that are more stable.
Jabu@Jabu_M

@Sophie_Mokoena Source? We need more details. These looks like import of crude oil, and we know South Africa import refined fuel more than crude oil.

@Sophie_Mokoena Sophie, all countries are "economically connected." As a supposedly seasoned reporter, you should know this. Dependency economically would be more appropriate. However, this always depends on many factors. Who's more powerful, has powerful alliances ,etc. Case in point, Isreal.

Simple put. All African countries are affected by migration. However economically African countries are economically connected. That is why the issue of migration needs urgent attention. This should be a priority to all countries. If not properly addressed it will lead to social unrest and security challenges in Africa.

🚨🗣️ Thomas Tuchel on Olise and Eze trying to switch Nationality to Nigeria. "We all know they're originally from Nigeria, and they have gone far to become global starts in their various clubs, Olise is really doing well in Bayern Munich and I'm pretty sure he's Ballon D'or favourite, Eze is also doing well with Arsenal too and have helped his team top the league for so many months, both might likely meet in the champions League final as well, if both Bayern Munich and Arsenal reach the final respectively". "If both of them switch to Nigeria nationality, I'm certain they'll help Nigeria win the AFCON again, qualify for the next world cup because Nigeria already have some quality players like Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Frank Onyeka, and co. If this really happens The Super Eagle will have a squad depth that will compete at top level, but honestly, England will miss Eze and France will also miss Olise as well".

Good morning South Africa, I come in peace. I have a question for black South Africans. How come 30 years after independence, you have not formed your own banks? Of the few big banks, only Capitec is recent, but was founded by white boys. The rest are old “colonial” banks from apartheid and pre-apartheid era. When are you going to form your own banks?
