Have spent hours talking about teaching and learning with @daire_lambert and I’m delighted to be part of @SageStage1. We are very passionate about getting teachers talking and sharing best practice. @physicsteacher @susanleahy @JeromeDevitt @Jezz2013 #edchatie

We are up and running! @SageStage1 is a blog we (@daire_lambert and @whelanlearning) are running to get teachers talking and thinking more about their practice. If you could give us a follow and a retweet that would be greatly appreicated! #edchatie sagestage1.wixsite.com/sageonthestage

Why has it taken me so long to do this? I find MCQs difficult to write. Great to bounce questions and answers off colleagues.

No No No No No No No No with a cherry on top? I strongly doubt AI is anywhere close to being able to do this effectively, let alone the message it sends about "how much we care about training new teachers"
Schools Week@SchoolsWeek

AI could be used to analyse recordings of lessons delivered by new teachers, to give feedback on what they are doing well and what could improve, as part of a National Institute of Teaching project schoolsweek.co.uk/ai-could-analy…

I agree that many schools are not ready for this. But they should have been. For years, students have been able to cheat on homework. Now, it's easier and faster, but fundamentally the same problem. carousel-learning.com/resources/blog…

Schools are *not* ready for this: -Open homework in google chrome -Right click and go to "search with google lens" -Google lens pops up on the right side and answers the question Massive implications for homework. This was an Isaac physics "A level challenge 2" question.

This is why understanding how learning works is so important. People predicted this result without needing the study. Mayer and Fiorella’s Generative Learning Theory may have become the single most important thing for teachers to know in the age of AI.

83.3% of ChatGPT users couldn't quote from essays they wrote minutes earlier. Let that sink in. You write something, hit save, and your brain has already forgotten it because ChatGPT did the thinking.

Nothing beats good old hard work. Schools must defend knowledge-curricula, traditional exams & teachers must understand cognitive load theory to prevent being seduced by AI trends influencing schooling.

BREAKING: MIT just completed the first brain scan study of ChatGPT users & the results are terrifying. Turns out, AI isn't making us more productive. It's making us cognitively bankrupt. Here's what 4 months of data revealed: (hint: we've been measuring productivity all wrong)

AI bros on the timeline are a bit quiet about this study. New research from MIT found that those who used ChatGPT can hardly remember any of the content of their essays. Key takeaway: the product doesn’t suffer, but the process does. And when it comes to essays, the process *is* how they learn. arxiv.org/pdf/2506.08872…

It's becoming very obvious that generative AI is making all forms of non-exam assessment totally obsolete. It's a threat to the integrity of education everywhere. It's not that hard to solve though - we just need more handwritten & in-person exams!
