@SamMartinFPL @George290994 Be interesting to see if/when Ajaz is available too. I can’t remember the last time an overseas wasn’t an automatic pick every game - testament to the strength of the squad Claude has assembled.
English

@George290994 Think Green/Holland be good this season and should be tight. Hopefully can all chip in.
English

This is a superb signing, will be interesting to see who goes where though now.
Opens the batting for both state/country.

𝗝𝗔𝗞𝗘 𝗜𝗦 𝗔 𝗙𝗢𝗫 🦊 A Red-Ball star with Ashes pedigree, and a hunger to make his mark in county cricket - Jake Weatherald arrives at Uptonsteel Grace Road ready to light up the Rothesay County Championship. Welcome to the Foxes family, Jake.
English

@willworthers @rowleydan Got something coming on suggestions later this week if they haven’t sorted by Tues/Weds.
He was on my list as I heard that one too!
English

🦊 After Handscomb: Who leads Leicestershire into 2026?
With Handscomb absent in 2026, who takes on the role in the red-ball format for the Foxes?
Ian Holland and Ben Green are the main candidates with the unlikley return of Lewis Hill to the role. We dig down and suggest who should take the captain's armband?

@rowleydan @TheFox_LCCC Obviously the absolute worst time to be looking to recruit. Matt Renshaw was the first name that came into my head.
English

@TheFox_LCCC @willworthers Be a very good choice.
We are going to lose Ahmed for most of the summer.
English

@rowleydan @TheFox_LCCC Nick Kelly seems to be the favourite. Thoughts?
English

@TheFox_LCCC We also need a top overseas batsman in asap.
Players will have been offered to the club.
Simply cannot stick with what we have.
English

@TheFox_LCCC Possibly, and hopefully, a few parallels with Logan van Beek, who turned out to be an underrated but inspired signing.

The news that Keshav Maharaj pulling out of his overseas stint was a huge blow for the #Foxes but they have softened it with the significant signing of New Zealand spin star Ajaz Patel
Oliver Shouksmith (@shoukyscricket) looks at the potential impact that Patel will have with the Foxes!

@rowleydan @TheCricketerMag @GeorgeDobell1 Correct. EW seems to suggest that a redevelopment would be on the table if we were selling out every game. Surely it is required whether the stadium is full or empty for those 60 days per year when there is cricket, to maximise revenue for the other 300 when there isn’t.
English

@TheCricketerMag @GeorgeDobell1 The Home of cricket🏏.
Not sure how anything can move forward without a redevelopment.

@TheFox_LCCC @rowleydan Ajaz is a v good replacement. I just feel Maharaj could have won us a couple of games almost single-handedly.
I’m interested to see how the top order goes against Div 1 attacks.
English

@willworthers @rowleydan Agreed Will - let’s enjoy it, I think they have a chance of safety.
I think Ajaz Patel might be a decent replacement in the middle of the summer in particular. Someone who can tie up an end which we’ve arguably missed.

🏟️ Have Leicestershire Recruited Well for Division One, A Deep Dive Ahead of 2026?
A deep dive into the #Foxes recruits ahead of their first season back in County Championship Division One for over 20 years!
It's an exciting season with Championship safety the priority, but can they surprise and compete with the momentum carrying over at Grace Road into the upcoming 2026 season!
the-fox.counterpress.media/features/have-…
English

@TheFox_LCCC @rowleydan Losing Maharaj is a hammer blow I feel.
Alex Green is an incredible prospect, think we have to be careful with expectations though.
The fact we are even playing Div 1 is something to be very proud of. If we can stay up, I’ll certainly take it!
English

@rowleydan Yeah I’ve done a piece on Josh already, big year for him I feel!
Alex Green is intriguing, sadly I don’t get too many 2nd XI games as I’m usually on duty with the first and typically when he did play, I was stationed elsewhere!
Looking forward to seeing more from him!

@ReubenHerbert1 @OutsideCricket I’m not even sure the likes of Strauss remembers that himself.
English

@OutsideCricket Id consider Strauss, Atherton, Vaughan and Hussain firstly as former players and England captains rather than commentators. Remembering they came through from grass-roots to those positions.
English

People opposing Strauss' possible return to the ECB are suggesting Atherton, Hussain or even Vaughan as alternatives. This misses the point.
Commentators main skill is to talk plausibly about cricket. When hired in more hands-on roles, in all sports, they almost always fail.
George Dobell@GeorgeDobell1
A return for Andrew Strauss?
English

@SeanMJarvis @GeorgeDobell1 They always will do when you have a ready made stooge waiting to trouser a bucket load of cash to attribute 7 dropped catches in one day at the GABBA to Leicestershire’s continued existence as a first class county.
English

@leicsccc Ryan ten Doeschate as a coach?! Probably not but that’s my best guess 🦊
English

@sabstand @Ali_Pettitt @SeanMJarvis @leicsccc @LCFC Hear hear. He did the same with me. And more than that, he asked questions and genuinely listened.
English

@Ali_Pettitt @SeanMJarvis @leicsccc @LCFC Alistair, Day two of Sean's first season, he sat himself down in the stand, introduced himself, and said "talk to me, I want to know all the good and bad things". Don't think we'll ever see interaction like that again.
Blaby, England 🇬🇧 English

When @SeanMJarvis was running @leicsccc he connected personally via his own social platforms & regular official updates from the club. He translated the plans for the club & personally I was engaged with cricket again. Can’t help but think what Sean could do if he was at @LCFC
English

@WG_RumblePants @ToppersSnr @PodcastHundred @thehundred Some might suggest more like the festering pile of elephant dung stinking out our national game. But that wouldn’t be seeing the bigger picture, of course.
English

Who is going to be the funny one, or first, going to suggest its the 'white elephant' in our domestic cricket?

Hate to break it to everybody, but Greater Manchester is not exactly flooded with Manchester Originals hats and jerseys. Nobody is mourning a new name and logo change for a sports franchise that has existed for *checks notes* less than five years.

@Willbak1 @d_ktalkballs The existence of EastEnders doesn’t threaten the existence of the BBC.
English

@d_ktalkballs However, no one made you watch it
I don't sit at home watching "E*stenders" and then moan that I hate it, I just don't watch it
English

It's hard to quantify just how much I cringed watching this.
Unspeakably bad - the forced nature of the whole enterprise is simply wretched.
The emetic properties of the H*ndred know no bounds.

English

@mattylufc_ They are cultural vandals. Far from being custodians of the game in this country, they are enemies of it.
English

Hope everyone’s happy that we’ve sold August to the IPL. Looking forward to them coming for June and July when the ECB run out of money again and none of the original funds have gone where they said they will. Absolute scumbags for what they’ve done to the game with this comp.

Introducing the Manchester Super Giants! 🤩🏏
English

@NoContextCounty The whole thing is one of the most shameful acts of cultural vandalism carried out in my lifetime.
English

@SkyCricket Have you heard of Lancashire County Cricket Club? They were founded in 1894 and they play a really popular format of the game, among others, called T20 in Manchester of all places. You should check it out.
English

@thefulltoss @SkyCricket With his credentials he should really be leading a review into the Ashes debacle and running off with a wheel barrow full of cash for telling us that it’s Leicestershire and Derbyshire’s fault.
English

@willworthers @SkyCricket I’ve noticed that too. Surely just coincidence 😉
