It seems that a misguided Judge has temporarily blocked an ICE immigrant detention center planned for Washington County Maryland. It has been stated that the planned area for the detention center only has 2000 residents which renders a detention center to house 1500 immigrants irrational and illogical. First and foremost Washington County Maryland and specifically Hagerstown Maryland has a population that is far greater than 2000 residents. Secondly, Hagerstown Maryland is home to three sizable State of Maryland prison complexes and has been so for many years (Maryland Correctional Institution, Maryland Correctional Training Center, Roxbury Correctional Institution). I find it ironic that Hagerstown Maryland can house 1000’s of prison inmates yet has no room to house 1500 immigrant detainees. The city also plays home to a sizable county detention center where I believe 100’s of inmates serve their court ordered sentences. Due to the Democrats’ DHS shutdown, many TSA officers are facing financial hardship and have been forced to call out — including at Long Beach Airport, where 21% of officers called out over the weekend. Democrats must END their DHS shutdown and pay our TSA officers.

Although this proposed ICE detention center may or may not have a Williamsport Maryland postal address it sits very near or on the boundary line of Hagerstown Maryland which is a city of about 60,000 residents and is in Washington County Maryland which has 150,000+ residents. Again, Hagerstown Maryland is home to a cluster of three very sizable Maryland State Prisons as well as the Washington County Detention Center which houses a sizable number of incarcerated inmates as well. The area is a perfect place for an ICE Detention Center and the citizens within the area would welcome the jobs created by the facility🇺🇸

Republicans have again voted in favor of funding the Department of Homeland Security, while Democrats continue to block it. Senate Democrats care more about the radical, open-borders extremists in their party than doing their job.
