#20 Where Were You on the Night Batman Was Killed? Batman #291-Batman #294 The first real good rogues team up, their interactions are a lot of fun and the spotlight issues really make Joker, Riddler, Catwoman, and Luthor shine. My only issue with it is a twist near the end.

#18 Moon of the Wolf Batman #255 Probably one of the coolest Batman comics ever written, if you like the BTAS episode, read this, its even better. It's also Len Wein's debut on Batman and he really sets the noir tone for Batman. Lupus is also a great layered character.

#16 The little men hall of fame Batman #287-288 Naturally the Penguin had to be on this list, and this story is really fun it brings the campiness I love Penguin to have and gets his characterization perfectly. He loves to make crime and art-form and this shows that perfectly

#14 Have yourself a deadly little Christmas Batman #309 Real tear-jerker this one, a beautiful christmas story that delves into themes way too complex for a Batman story but I'm so glad it exists. It is a great lesson that Batman learns PLEASE READ THIS ONE

#13 The Spook That Stalked Batman! Detective comics #434-435 Val Kaliban is a very underrated character I wished he wasn't forgotten after the 70s his MO of escapism works really well with Batman creating a really fun dynamic. And the character has an such an aura of mystery

#12 Haven Detective comics #514 This story has a great Maxie Zeus, a bit of a different meaner take than what O'neil had originally done with the character, but functions perfectly in the context of this almost mythical story. Every one should know the story of "Haven".

#11 Dr Phosphorus Detective comics 469-470 The start of Engleharts run on Batman it doesn't disappoint it stands out from other Batman stories from the time with more mature and thematically heavy writing, also Phosphorus is a crazy bastard. Also Rupert Thorne debut

#10 Down to the Bone Batman annual #10 One of the few good pre crisis Moench story this serves as a perfect closure to Hugo Strange in the bronze age, it is an unexpected masterpiece I like how this is a critique on how much Batman actually relies on money, great stuff

#9 Double Jeopardy Batman 328-329 The first story to give Two-face proper depth and character progress since the golden age and it is a great dramatic story of two face dealing with the freak aspect of him while his good personality still cares about Gilda. FANTASTIC
