Why in the world is Consumer Reports quoting these insane, unrealistic insurance rates for Teslas? I’ve never heard of anyone paying $400/mo to insure a Model 3.

@briandstone A while back, I got quoted $845/mo in the Seattle area for a Model Y. No accidents or tickets, good credit. Cited high repair costs and times for repairs, theft/break ins, and vandalism for the high quote in the region. Ended up getting a Chevy Bolt and paying $140/mo 🤷🏾‍♂️

@briandstone Move to Southern California. With a clean driving recording i pay $5600 per year for a model x and a Ram 2500. Additionally I pay annual cost of $3700 for a GT500 with cap mileage of 5K miles or less per year (my weekend car). 🤯

@briandstone $160 a month with my old M3LR. We just bought a new Model Y and now it’s $180 a month.

@briandstone I pay way more but that is because we carry the max, live in Florida, and have teens in the house. As a datapoint when we swapped the 7 year old Corolla for a 2024 M3 RWD we got a small reduction and I think that was lower liability even after higher collision.

@briandstone My wife and I pay $350/monthly for 22 M3 and 26 MY. When I was by myself when I bought my M3 in 22 it was just under $300. We are not 30 yet so personally think we are paying reasonable prices right now.
