I told Atiku, the son of Abubakar, that by insisting he must contest the election under ADC, he has chosen to sit on a gunpowder ready to explode at any time. Today, that warning appears to be staring everyone in the face. Justice Lifu of the Federal High Court has ordered INEC to deregister the ADC and four other political parties. According to Justice Lifu, the affected parties failed to satisfy the minimum electoral performance benchmarks required by law. He agreed that they failed to secure at least 25 per cent of votes in any state during the presidential election and also failed to win any elective seat at the federal, state, or local government levels during the previous electoral cycle. The court further held that allowing non-performing political platforms to remain registered weakens the integrity of Nigeria's multi-party system. Recall that this suit was filed on April 23 by the National Forum of Former Legislators (NFFL), with the Attorney General of the Federation, INEC, and ADC joined as defendants. With this judgment, whether you belong to the Nafiu Bala faction, the David Mark faction, or the Dumebi faction, you are no longer existing in the eyes of the law until this judgment is successfully overturned on appeal. The court also stated that there should be no party activities from the affected parties. This is exactly why I have continued to say that Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso really dodged a bullet. Politics is not just about ambition. It is also about timing, calculation, and understanding where the landmines are buried before taking the next step. I am Ekene Aninze Esq.

To the Igbo folks on my TL, why? There is something that has been bothering me for a long time, and I believe it is time to speak about it openly and honestly. For years, many Nigerians have heard the phrase "Lagos is no man's land" propagating from red cap wearing profiles. Every election cycle, every major political disagreement, every ethnic controversy seems to bring this conversation back again. My question is simple, why? Why is it considered wise to repeatedly make divisive statements that many of your hosts perceive as dismissive of their history, identity, and attachment to a place they call home? Nobody disputes the fact that Lagos has benefited from the hard work, investments, creativity, and enterprise of people from every corner of Nigeria. The Igbo community, in particular, has contributed immensely to the growth and prosperity of Lagos. That contribution deserves recognition and respect. But contribution and ownership are not the same thing. When people open their cities, communities, and opportunities to you, should the response be rhetoric that unsettles them? This is not a Lagos-only conversation. We saw similar tensions emerge in South Africa. Many of us mocked South Africans when controversies arose over traditional authority structures and claims of influence by immigrant communities. We called them backward. We called them xenophobic. We called them ignorant. But let us ask ourselves honestly, was it wise to provoke people in ways that fed their fears and insecurities? Was it wise to install an Igbo king in KuGompo? Whether those fears were justified or not, did confrontation solve anything? Now we are back here again because of another controversial statement. Another round of anger. Another round of ethnic arguments. Another round of Nigerians attacking each other. And I find myself asking, when will this end? When will the voices that constantly provoke and antagonize learn that coexistence requires sensitivity? When will the reasonable and thoughtful members of the community begin to challenge the loud and arrogant voices that keep dragging everyone into unnecessary conflict? When will actual well meaning Igbos start to call out their divisive brothers? Before anyone misunderstands me, let me be clear. No tribe is entirely good. No tribe is entirely bad. Every ethnic group has its saints and its troublemakers. But when the loudest voices are also the most provocative, they eventually become the face outsiders see. Fair or unfair, perception becomes reality. That is why silence from the sensible majority is dangerous. If the loudest people continually make statements that create resentment, and nobody within the community pushes back, outsiders begin to assume those voices represent everyone. Nigeria already has enough problems. Our economy is struggling. Our young people are leaving. Our institutions are weak. The last thing we need is another generation growing up convinced that they should view their fellow Nigerians through the lens of ethnic suspicion. The truth is that millions of Igbo people and millions of Yoruba people live, work, build businesses, raise families, and support each other every day without conflict. That reality should be strengthened, not undermined. So I ask this not in anger but in genuine concern: Can we stop saying things that unnecessarily provoke our hosts wherever we go? Can we stop treating every disagreement as a contest for dominance? Can we learn that respect is not weakness, and sensitivity is not surrender? Because in the end, no community wins when mutual trust is destroyed. We all lose. And Nigeria loses most of all. I'm tired.

There is No Reason to Detain Nnamdi Kanu. He Did Nothing Wrong — Peter Obi Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has reiterated his opposition to the continued detention of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu, insisting that no one should be arrested simply for expressing their views. Speaking in Washington, Obi said he sees no justification for Kanu’s detention and urged authorities to embrace dialogue rather than repression when dealing with agitators. “I have said this repeatedly, there is no reason for detaining Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. You cannot arrest somebody just because the person is speaking on radio,” Obi stated. Drawing from his own experience in politics, the former Anambra State governor argued that criticism and name-calling are not criminal offences. “I am a politician, people have been calling me names, it’s not an offence,” he said. Obi extended his position to all separatist and political agitators across the country, saying engagement remains the most effective way to address grievances and preserve national unity. “Even all agitators; if I was in government today, I will discuss with them and engage with them, I will consult them. Because I believe if they have a reason for whatever they want to do, it’s only by engaging them we will learn and see how we can resolve this,” he added. The former presidential candidate, however, acknowledged that he currently holds no government office and therefore lacks the authority to act on such proposals. “But I am not in position to do anything today,” Obi said.

For the first time, I agree with Peter Obi. There is no justification to continue detaining Nnamdi Kanu. But let me speak directly to our Northern Governors and this government: The same system that keeps Kanu in detention is busy pardoning and reintegrating known terrorists. Under Tinubu: - Over 700 repentant Boko Haram and bandit members have been released and reintegrated since 2023. - February 2026: 117 released in Borno. - 2025: Over 300 completed rehabilitation in Gombe alone. We tolerate nonsense. We integrate killers. We release those who slaughtered our people, while locking up political voices. This selective injustice is disgusting. Free Nnamdi Kanu Now. Stop releasing terrorists back into our communities. The North is watching. The blood of the innocent is watching. #FreeNnamdiKanu #StopIntegratingTerrorists

You guys think Messi didn’t know what he was doing choosing America over Saudi Arabia? He won Copa America in Brazil in 2021, he then went on to win the World Cup in Qatar in 2022. He left Europe and went to MLS where the next Copa America would be played. A year later he won his second Copa America in 2024. He saw the World Cup 2026 would be played in America where he is already thriving in with Inter Miami. If you think he chose America just because of his family, you’re wrong. He has been preparing himself to defend the title 😭😭

Nigeria has a serious processing problem. Processing becomes extremely difficult when logistics, security, and power (electricity) are all very expensive. Take jam-making, for example. We could be making a killing in this sector. Yet fruits go to waste every season simply because there is no reliable electricity to preserve them. Fuel costs eat deeply into overhead, and you have to pay duties at multiple checkpoints when transporting food across states. How do local producers and processors compete with international brands that don’t face these same challenges?
Isaac O.@theisaacola

Nigeria sells raw cocoa at $8,000 a tonne. Processed into butter it earns $48,000. Made into chocolate it earns $240,000. 30 times the money, yet Nigeria is still choosing $8,000.

PETER OBI DO NOT HAVE ANY REPUTATION TO PROTECT: Here is why; As a lawyer, I find the defamation suit reportedly instituted by @PeterObi against @realkenokonkwo rather curious and difficult to appreciate from a strategic standpoint. The essence of a defamation action is the protection of a reputation that has been unjustly damaged. However, where a public figure has been subjected to prolonged public criticism, political scrutiny, and widespread debate over their actions and statements, the practical challenge becomes demonstrating that the alleged defamatory statements have caused a fresh and measurable injury to an already contested public image. Does Peter Obi even have any reputation to protect? I doubt he has any reputation to be defamed. Reputation is not what a person value himself but what others value him. Peter Obi is banking enforcing a reputation that is long dead, therefore an action like this is laughable. In a democracy, political figures inevitably expose themselves to intense criticism, and the law of defamation must be carefully balanced against the constitutional right to freedom of expression. The courts are not intended to become venues for settling every political disagreement or silencing harsh opinions. Nevertheless, whether the action succeeds or fails ultimately depends on the specific words complained of, whether they are statements of fact or opinion, their truth or falsity, whether they were published to third parties, and whether they have lowered the claimant in the estimation of right-thinking members of society. Let me emphasize it here again, right-thinking members of the society does not include members of the OBIDIENTS movement. E. O. Ogar, Esq.

Fellow Nigerians Today, we celebrate democracy and the enduring Nigerian spirit. For 27 unbroken years, since May 29, 1999, Nigerians have chosen their leaders through the ballot, witnessed peaceful transitions of power, and resolved disagreements in courtrooms and legislative chambers—not through violence. We have experienced the longest stretch of civilian rule in our history. Our democracy is not perfect, but it is ours, and we must continue to defend and strengthen it.

Am I disappointed that Bernardo Silva won’t join? Yes. Am I going to blame the board for weeks? No. The reality is simple: once Real Madrid entered the race, it became almost impossible. They can offer a 33-year-old Bernardo Silva a starting role and a higher salary. Barcelona can’t realistically guarantee him a place ahead of Pedri, De Jong or Fermín. At Barça, he would have arrived mainly to strengthen the bench and add depth, not as an undisputed starter. Flick clearly doesn’t see Bernardo as a necessary piece of his project, while Mourinho is reportedly pushing hard for his fellow countryman because his team lacks creative midfielders and sees Bernardo as a key solution. That’s why I’m not overly frustrated. Bernardo is a great player, but my priorities remain clear: a striker, full-backs and a top centre-back. Those are the signings I’ll judge the board on before the season starts.
Fabrizio Romano@FabrizioRomano

🚨 Bernardo Silva to Real Madrid, HERE WE GO! Agreement in place and contract approved. Two year deal plus one year option, fast deal by Madrid started 36h ago and closed immediately. Mourinho wanted Bernardo, he says yes and advanced talks revealed today are 100% confirmed.

Do you know how many false allegations, lies, and negative claims are made against Atiku Abubakar on this app every day? Yet, he has never written any letters or resorted to suing anyone over them. If Peter Obi cannot tolerate criticism as an opposition figure, how will he handle criticism if he becomes President? Such an attitude could lead to the use of state institutions and security agencies to intimidate or go after those who express opposing views.

Alleged N2b Nigeria Air Fraud:   How Sirika Allegedly Used Ethiopian Airlines as Fake Nigeria Air-Witness   The 12th Prosecution Witness, PW12, Christopher Odofin,   in the trial of the former Minister of Aviation, Hadi Abubakar Sirika, on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, told Justice S.C. Oriji of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT,  High Court Abuja, how Sirika allegedly passed off an aircraft belonging to Ethiopian Airline as that of the promised Nigeria Air by the government of the late President Muhammadu Buhari.   The decoy aircraft, adorned with the livery of the promised Nigeria Air, found its way on the tarmac of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on May 27, 2023, being three days to the expiration of the tenure of the Buhari government and was flown back to Addis Ababa in the morning of May 29, 2023, being the handover date to the successor government.   Hadi Sirika is facing prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on amended six-count, bordering on alleged abuse of office and misappropriation of public funds to the tune of over N2 billion, alongside his daughter, Fatima Hadi Sirika, son-in-law, Hamma Jalal Sule, and Al Buraq Global Investment Limited.   The contract for the setting up of Nigeria Air was awarded to Tianaero Nigeria Limited, belonging to Gabriel Tilmann, a close associate and friend of the former minister.   Reading from a portion of contract agreement with Ethiopian Airline, the witness, an investigator with Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC said “The aircraft will depart from Addis Ababa (ADD) late evening of May 26, 2023 for it to be positioned early morning of May 27, 2023 at the Abuja (ABV) airport. The aircraft will stay in ABV airport for static display of Nigeria Air livery until May 28, 2023. The aircraft will leave ABV airport early morning on May, 29, 2023. The chartered flight will be operated by the Ethiopian Airline crew in Ethiopian Airline uniform. The Federal Government of Nigeria and Nigeria Air may put together local models who will be in Nigeria Air uniforms to pose for ceremonial pictures. The models may come to Addis Ababa so they may fly with the chartered flight to ABV.”   The witness told the court that the display of the aircraft in Abuja International Airport was deliberately planned to coincide with the end of the first defendant’s tenure as Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development on May 29, 2023 and to pass the aircraft off as the actualization of his promise of the return of Nigeria Air. After the less than 72 hours display of the aircraft, he stated that the Nigeria Air logo was removed from the aircraft and flown back to Ethiopian Airlines in Addis Ababa.   The witness further disclosed that the investigating team was also able to ascertain that Ethiopian Airlines entered into a charter arrangement for the static display of the Nigeria Air livery for a duration of just three days, beginning from May 27 to May 29, 2023 based on information and documents received from the airline following a letter from it, dated June 12, 2023, in response to the EFCC’s request for information regarding Nigeria Air. And that though the purpose of the contract was for the establishment of Nigeria Air, the charter agreement with Ethiopian Airlines was entered on May 24, 2023, five days to the expiration of the defendant’s tenure for just a static display of the Nigeria Air logo on an aircraft.   All the documents tendered in evidence by the prosecution were shown to have been duly signed, authorized, and accompanied by certificates of identification and were not objected to by any of the counsels to the four defendants. Among the exhibits is a compact disk containing a voice note from the first defendant, Hadi Sirika, marked Exhibit 37, which the prosecution counsel applied to be played in the court at the next adjourned date.
