The rule: never commit to a name until you have seen "not found" with your own eyes. Generator, then ICANN, then claim it. Thirty seconds between you and a name you own.

This is why I build the .com check into the generator itself. Names with a taken .com never show up. Each one is checked against live records as it appears. You still verify the winner, but you start from names that are real: startupnamegenerator.com

Your name generator says the .com is available. Do not trust it blindly. Tools cache, and registries change by the minute. Here is the 30-second way to verify a domain yourself, free, before you build on it:

Happened to me too after completely legit posts that got a real useful conversations going. Mods are trigger happy with new users, definitely not supporting and trusting new people. I appealed to get the account reactivated and immediately got it back though, but all of this feels arbitrary and totalitarian.
