@Anew_Castle @TheCupitals Obviously we have some prospects that are untouchable, but if that's the case, he should come out and say they weren't comfortable moving some of the prospects. But all they say is "well, we tried." Just need them to be more honest

Wasting a 6th on this situation was objectively dumb. You had to know he’d have visa issues. You had to know his wife was pregnant. We drafted Petr Sikora with a 6th. Would not have thrown one away on this.

@b_acker70 @TheCupitals Again, see previous response. I didn’t like the Carlson trade and I agree with you. But if he comes back in July we get a first rounder for free. I just hope he does come back.

@Anew_Castle @TheCupitals I also was not a fan of trading Carlson. That's an elite offensive defenseman who is still capable of playing 22+ minutes a night. It's also the greatest defenseman in franchise history, and I think there are certain players who you simply cannot trade. Carlson was one of those.

@b_acker70 @TheCupitals If adding talent means giving away Leno or Ilya Protas then yea I’m fine with the outcome. It appears that most teams were trying to take the farm, which we smartly didn’t agree to. If Carlson comes back for half his contract price no one will be crying come July

@Anew_Castle @TheCupitals It's not just that move, it's constantly telling us they're trying to add talent then falling short in doing so. It's tearing apart your locker room for a late 1st round draft pick that may or may not pan out. I just don't feel like there's a direction with what they want to do

@b_acker70 @TheCupitals Again, like I just said to you, I agree. TVR should have gone as well. And I think it’s strange we added 2 filler players. I think giving away a 6th rounder for a filler doesn’t call for the GMs head though.

@Anew_Castle @TheCupitals If you're going to sell, you sell EVERYTHING you can. You try to move TvR, Duhaime, and anyone else on an expiring deal that could fetch you something. Instead, we add two filler players in a wash of a season while losing draft picks that could be valuable down the road.

@b_acker70 @TheCupitals Totally agree with you there. I’m Hoping Carlson comes back in the off-season, but I’m glad we got a first rounder for him.

@Anew_Castle @TheCupitals It isn't the end of the world, you're right about that. But they're operating as if they don't know what the direction of the team is. Trading Carlson = sellers, not making playoffs. But then acquiring Kampf/Liljegren = not sellers, make playoffs. Gotta pick a lane.

@b_acker70 @TheCupitals I think Patrick didn’t fine, but we don’t know the details. If they wanted the farm for Kyrou or Panarin then we did well not giving it away. Kampf is a fill player for the rest of the year. A bit of an unnecessary trade? Sure. Not the end of the world.

@Anew_Castle @TheCupitals How is it dramatic? We've been told the entire year he wants to acquire a skilled forward and all we get is, "oh well, we tried." I get not wanting to give up certain assets, but you are a top market in the NHL, it should not be hard to attract talent here.

@TheCupitals A bit of a dramatic response? lol yikes bro. Neither have played yet so can’t really judge them. I will say Sikora does look good and I hope his game translates to the NHL. Tom Brady was a 6th rounder but a 6th rounder usually doesn’t turn into something like Tom Brady.

@Anew_Castle Thank you I totally thought it was the end of the world. Masterful reply. We should just light that pick on fire every year just to prove how meaningless that pick is. Let's just go trade Sikora and Bjorklund for future considerations just to prove how useless these picks are.

@TheCupitals The only saving grace from this trade deadline was the good returns on the Dowd & Carlson. We traded a 4th & a 6th for a defenseman who is now a healthy scratch and a center who still hasn't played a game for us bcuz of several issues. My patience with Patrick is running thin

I thought he was going to be the one traded this offseason but he’s arguably been the Caps defensemen this season. But also doubt they trade Marty so keeping Sandin on the right makes sense.

You may recall when Alex Ovechkin passed Wayne Gretzky last season to become the NHL’s all-time goals leader. Yeah, that’s not happening with shorthanded goals. Gretzky is the all-time leader with 73. Second is Mark Messier (63). Third is Steve Yzerman (50). Ovechkin has five.

I think the thing which was not addressed in the PC: Does someone who plays 17 seasons for your hockey team and helps you win a Cup deserve to be notified beforehand or worked with on a trade? I think yes, regardless of the limited no-trade. My opinion: it's disrespectful.
