I have to admit: as a French man it makes me a tiny bit angry to see Spain be the principled Gaullistes of our age. I love Sanchez, pretty much the only EU statesman worth his salt today, but he also really highlights how depressingly bad the others are in comparison. My country in particular... Hopefully a lesson will be learned. This is very Gaulliste too: he was never big on lecturing others, but all about setting an example.

The fact that boomers don’t understand each generation has a duty to its children is exactly why they’re leaving us with an insane mess that will take generations to fix, if ever. Worst generation in History.

NATO is by far the most violent, aggressive military organisation on the planet. It has waged countless wars of aggression — not a single one of them defensive in nature — which have caused millions of deaths. Meanwhile, it has engaged in several terrorist acts on European territory (e.g., Operation Gladio) — the latest one being the bombing of the Nord Stream pipeline. NATO is the biggest threat to peace in the world. Humanity’s survival depends on dismantling it.

Until they stop starving, bombing, gassing, headshotting, imprisoning, branding, enslaving, torturing and raping Palestinians I am a single-issue voter and I will not vote for any political vehicle that is not unequivocal in its belief that Israel must be completely dismantled

The last of a dying breed. Dustin Poirier may never have touched undisputed gold, but he earned something far more meaningful: the respect of everyone who’s ever stepped into the cage. He’ll be remembered not just for the wars, but as a father, a husband, and a man who gave back to the world. Diamonds are forever. On behalf of the entire fighting world thank you, Dustin. ❤️

@RnaudBertrand I want to believe this so bad. Sadly, I don't see Germany (& others) ever becoming anything else than a permanent vassal of the US. With "people" like Kallas & Von der Leyen, I think the EU is beyond redemption at this point. I hope I'm wrong.

This might be the most remarkable geopolitical document I've seen come out of a major European institution so far this century. France’s Parliament has just produced an extraordinary 153-page report that calls for nothing less than a complete strategic realignment of Europe. The document systematically dismantles the EU's current geopolitical positioning - "vassalized" to the U.S., in the report's words - as a catastrophic failure that has led to the EU seeing "its influence diminish and its interests poorly protected." The report details 50 recommendations from the "creation of a common world currency" (recommendation #14) to dedollarize the global economy, to "replacing the EU's strategy in the Indo-Pacific region with a cooperative approach including China" (recommendation #11). In general the report's central recommendation is that Europe break free from Atlantic subordination and instead achieve strategic autonomy by partnering with China. This would mark a complete historical reversal - for the first time since the colonial era, the historical West choosing equal strategic partnership with a Global South nation as an alternative to Western alliance structures. The report (which you can find here: assemblee-nationale.fr/dyn/17/rapport…) is in French so I wrote a detailed article breaking down its most explosive findings and recommendations, an explaining why this could be its last chance to avoid irrelevance in a multipolar world. The link to my article is in the next tweet.

I basically like my life, but I also feel that living in the world right now - I mean, especially right now, but really all the time - requires a level of radical compartmentalization that gives me the constant low-level burning sensation of going insane. Anyone else feel this??

@RnaudBertrand Vercingetorix's people didn't call Julius Caesar "daddy" as the former was garrotted during the "triumph" of the latter. The Eagle's Empire never changes. But we sure did.

As a European, the fact that the White House is now using Rutte's "daddy" comment in their propaganda represents the absolute low point of our continent's dignity. They're literally celebrating our leaders' submission as entertainment for their domestic audience. This is the social media version of Roman triumph parades, where conquered leaders were dragged through the streets for public amusement. Except in our case we're thanking them for the chains and asking to pay for heavier ones.

Truly profoundly ashamed of my country, we've completely lost it. This is France's official reaction to Israel's attack on Iran, which was as blatant a violation of international law as there can possibly be: "We have expressed on several occasions our grave concerns regarding Iran's nuclear program, particularly in the resolution recently adopted at the International Atomic Energy Agency. We reaffirm Israel's right to defend itself against any attack." Not a single word of condemnation of Israel's attack, or even simply an acknowledgement that it violated all principles of international law. Disgusting, no other word for it.
