This account will be gradually leaving X / Twitter and moving to Bluesky. Since many journalists, defence analysts, members of the OSINT community and others setup Bluesky, there is a quite lively community there already. We recommend everyone to follow. See you there!

After doing a more thorough inspection of radio-technical units along the Finnish border, I noticed something that I missed previously. Due to the very specific environmental setting of the area (dense forest). Kasta-2E2 radars are mounted on specific masts like this. 1/8

Is the US capable of offering Ukraine security guarantees? What would the security look like? Front line combat infantry? Missile defense? (LMOALOLOL) Pewpew planes? Crying in the fetal position? Crying about how much money things cost? Whining about Debt limits? Which is it?

@euronews It's just fucked up. At a national level this would be a treason. Of course, not applicable for EU. However, such #Hungary doesn't deserve to be in the EU. If your political views and positions are in direct conflict, then please just leave. Otherwise, they should be kicked out.

1/ Russian sources say that Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces, under the command of Robert “Madyar” Brovdi, have made "significant strides in UAV production and deployment technology". Russian soldiers are facing "slaughter [like] cattle" as a result. ⬇️

@wyqtor @eeldenden Yes, it's around 1000 km away from Armenia; it's an island (as opposed to landlocked country); and yet it's still divided, with an unresolved frozen conflict.

U.S. and Israel have "different" objectives in the Iran war, DNI Gabbard told the House Intel Committee today. “The objectives that have been laid out by the president are different from the objectives that have been laid out by the Israeli government,” she said.

@Jonpy99 @CromLoupe They do, but they have a ceiling of ~5 km (max 7 km). If UKR air force could safely drop the regular JDAM (not the ER variants) and Paveway muntions, then this would be a big deal. Still, that doesn't seem realistic at this point.

This post is related to my previous one. Efficiency of targeting by artillery and FPV drones from the Russian side. Porkovsk direction. February 2026. - 1232 regiments fired 316 shells (122 and 152 mm). The efficiency was 0.5 and 0.8%. And launched 480 FPV drones. The efficiency was 57%. - 1195, 1438, 1452, and 348 regiments fired 1146 shells (122 and 152 mm). The efficiency was 1,61 %, 0,78 %, 1,65% and 1.55%. 1452 managed to open fire 146 times and hit zero times. At the same time, the efficiency of the launch of FPV drones was 54% (500 FPV were launched), 62% (480 FPV), 64% (691 FPV), and 33% (353 FPV). There are multiple reasons for the low efficiency of the artillery: from bad and different types of ammunition to unclassified artillerymen. Also, I need to add that these regiments are far from being good ones and were created in the 2022-2023 period.

Important figures here from Zelensky. Ukraine could produce 2000 interceptor drones per day if they had financing. Their requirements are 1000 per day; the other 1000 would be available for export. Imagine if the Trump Admin had taken them up on this back in August.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy / Володимир Зеленський@ZelenskyyUa

First, we are capable of producing at least 2,000 effective and combat-proven interceptors every day. We can produce more – it depends on investment. We need about 1,000 interceptors a day, and we can supply at least another 1,000 a day to our allies. Second, we know how to build radar and acoustic coverage to respond to how “shaheds” and other drones approach. Third, we have software that allows radars to keep working even under electronic warfare jamming. In real time, we analyze enemy frequencies and respond to them. And because of this system, we understand how effective our defense is against almost every attack drone, and we can move our positions and air defense to get better results. This iPad gives full control of the situation because we have a system for using our defense tools. If a “shahed” needs to be stopped in the Emirates – we can do it. If it needs to be stopped in Europe or the United Kingdom – we can do it. It is a matter of technology, investment, and cooperation. And the fact that we got through this winter – which Russia tried to make deadly for all our families – shows that our solutions work. From my address to the Parliament of the United Kingdom (4/7)

Moscow's ideal scenario for a Middle East war is not a swift victory or a catastrophic escalation, but a conflict of moderate duration and intensity that keeps oil prices high without significantly disrupting the global economy. We are not there yet. Despite the oil windfall, the Kremlin is preparing budget cuts. The one untouchable area – military expenditure – remains predictably unaffected.
The Bell@thebell_io

✂️ Oil Boom Won’t Shield Russia From Billion-Dollar Spending Cuts Despite the unexpected windfall of a Middle East conflict pushing oil prices higher, the Russian government has begun pressing ahead with sweeping spending cuts worth billions of dollars. “Spending cuts will kill the last bit of economic growth,” a senior official at the Ministry of Economic Development told The Bell. According to Vedomosti, at the start of the year Russia’s Finance Ministry notified all ministries of a 10% across-the-board reduction in spending. Bloomberg estimates the largest possible cut would amount to around 2 trillion rubles ($25 billion), or 0.8% of GDP — though The Bell’s own calculations suggest a more likely range of 0.5–1 trillion rubles ($6–12 billion). So-called “unprotected” budget lines will be first in line for cuts: national projects, infrastructure investment and road construction. Although the Finance Ministry wields considerable authority, sequestration is far from inevitable and is already facing pushback. “The plan is not to cut what is inflated, but what is left — and that’s just crumbs,” said one official at the Ministry of Economic Development. “This year, there is not much room. A transition period could be considered going forward,” a government official agreed. The cuts stem from structural long-term shortfalls. The budget rests on implausibly optimistic assumptions — oil at $59 a barrel, a rate of 92.2 rubles to the dollar — and authorities are banking on $15 billion from a VAT hike that looks increasingly unlikely to materialise amid slowing growth. ➡️ For the first three years of the war, the budget ran fat. Now, with belts tightening and the war still ongoing, civilian spending is the only lever left to pull — even as it has already been squeezed to the bone.

Yes, it has been 4 years. In that time PAC-3 MSE production has increased by 100%. PAC-2 GEM-T probably by around 50%. This year over 1000 PATRIOT interceptors will likely be produced, compared to a few hundred Aster 30s. This disparity will continue to grow wider, with MBDA Germany opening up a GEM-T production line and Lockheed Martin scaling MSE to 2000 per year.

@joni_askola If Europe wanted an ability to produce 100s if not 1000s of SAMP/T a year to help Ukraine it would have funded that long ago given how long its been since the conflict started. This is not something we can just ignore or wish away.

The age of fighting against FPVs has finally arrived for American / Partner forces in CENTCOM. If you haven’t cracked open ATP 3-01.81 yet, you’re pretty far behind.

For the first time, an Iranian-backed militia has carried out an FPV drone attack in Iraq, an incredibly dangerous new development. Seen here, the FPV munition flies around Victory Base near Baghdad International Airport before slamming into a building.

🚨🇺🇸🇧🇪 Very significant news here. Raises some questions: If C8 production moves to Belgium, would Raytheon's planned AMRAAM production increase to +1,900 include this new facility, or would +1,900 only apply to D3 production in Tucson? Where does AMRAAM-ER fit into this?

🇧🇪 When asked, an RTX spokesperson told me that the company wants to fully move its AIM-120C8 production line to Europe so that the US facility can focus on the D3 variant. To this end the company is speaking to at least 30 companies in Belgium to begin building out the missiles supply chain.
