Dangote Industries Group outlined a plan to grow revenue to US$100 billion by 2030 under its “Vision 2030” strategy, requiring at least US$40 billion in new investments. The plan includes expanding refinery capacity from 650,000 to 1.4 million barrels per day and increasing fertiliser output from 3 million to 12 million tonnes annually. The strategy spans 2025–2030 and also targets growth in cement, food production, and new sectors such as infrastructure, mining, data centres, and power. f.mtr.cool/sqscngabre

Uganda imports its petroleum through @UNOC_UG. However OMC's (oil marketing companies) place an order via the company and pay for it. The oil @UNOC_UG is holding is already paid for by domestic clients. It is simply holding on to this supply to pass on to its clients. Uganda is not rejecting Kenya's request. It is unable to because of these arrangements. It is unfair to claim that it has capacity to do so @moneyacademyKE

Uganda has declined Kenya’s request to access its fuel reserves due to its own supply priorities and existing commitments, even after Kenya pledged to cover the fuel once its delayed cargo arrives.

Uganda is planning its first sovereign sukuk bond worth about EUR 405.5M (UGX 1.75T) to partly finance the Standard Gauge Railway from Malaba to Kampala, marking a shift toward Islamic finance to diversify funding sources. The sukuk will be listed on the Uganda Securities Exchange and will offer tax-exempt returns to investors.

Featured in today’s @DailyMonitor, the #EACOP conversation highlights a powerful truth: the real value of infrastructure isn’t just steel and concrete, it’s the impact on people. As #EACOP progresses, its long-term impact will be measured not just in kilometres of pipeline, but in the skills developed, opportunities created, and communities transformed across #Uganda and #Tanzania.

The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) is a massive engineering undertaking with several specialized components designed to handle the unique properties of Ugandan crude oil. Take A look!👀 ⚙️ Pump and Pressure Stations Pumping Stations (PS): There are six pumping stations in total—PS1 and PS2 in Uganda, and PS3 through PS6 in Tanzania. These stations provide the necessary pressure to keep the oil moving across the 1,443 km distance. Pressure Reduction Stations (PRS): Located in Tanzania, these two stations (PRS1 and PRS2) are essential for managing hydrostatic pressure as the pipeline descends toward the coast, ensuring the flow remains safe and controlled before reaching the terminal.  East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP)
+4 🔥 The World's Longest Heated Pipeline Ugandan crude oil is "waxy," meaning it solidifies at room temperature. To keep it fluid, the pipeline uses a Long Line Heat Tracing (LLHT)system:   East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP)  +1 Insulation: The 24-inch carbon steel pipe is wrapped in polyurethane foam (PUF) insulation, acting like a giant thermos. •Heating: Electrical cables run the entire length of the pipe, maintaining a minimum temperature of 50°C. •Power: In Uganda, power is primarily sourced from the national hydro-power grid. In Tanzania, the project uses a mix of the national grid, its own generators, and a 4MW solar farm.  East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP)
+5 🌐 Smart Monitoring & Leak Detection A buried fibre-optic cable runs parallel to the pipeline, acting as a continuous sensor:   East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP)  +1 Real-Time Data: It monitors temperature, vibration, and strain. Any sudden change can pinpoint a potential leak or "third-party intrusion" (like unauthorized digging) to within a few meters. Isolation: If a leak is detected, operators can remotely close any of the 76 block valves to isolate that specific section of the pipe and minimize environmental impact.  East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP)
+3 🚢 Tanga Marine Terminal Located on the Chongoleani Peninsula, this facility is the final export point:   Petroleum Authority of Uganda  +1 Storage: It features four insulated storage tanks, each capable of holding 500,000 barrels of oil (2 million total). Loading Facility: A 2.7 km jetty extends into Tanga Bay to reach water depths of 23 meters, allowing large Suezmax tankers to dock and load the oil for global export.  East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP)
+2 The project is currently over 80% complete as of April 2026, with technical commissioning expected later this year.

Uganda acquired a 20.15% stake in Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) following the company’s successful IPO and listing on the Nairobi Securities Exchange, marking a significant milestone for regional energy cooperation & economic integration in East Africa. The IPO raised KSh 106 billion, reflecting strong investor confidence in Kenya’s infrastructure and capital markets. Uganda’s investment underscores the strategic importance of the Kenyan pipeline system, through which about 95% of Uganda’s petroleum products nearly 2.96 billion litres annually are imported, strengthening energy security and supply reliability for the country. The development builds on the Transportation and Storage Agreement signed in May 2024 between UNOC and KPC, enabling the movement of petroleum products from the Port of Mombasa to depots in Western Kenya before distribution into Uganda. With KPC recording average annual revenue growth of 8% between 2021 and 2025 and generating KSh 38.6 billion in revenue with KSh 7.49 billion profit after tax in 2025, the investment reflects confidence in the company’s strong performance and long-term value. Beyond a financial investment, the move represents a major step toward deeper East African Community integration, demonstrating how regional partnerships in critical infrastructure can enhance economic resilience, secure supply chains, and drive shared prosperity. #OpenGovUg
