Halo Studios has canceled a planned battle royale mode for Halo Infinite. The project was scrapped in late 2022, later reworked into a PvE extraction shooter built in Unreal Engine. Development on Eker was active as of summer 2023. Its current status remains unclear, it could launch as a standalone game or become part of a future Halo title. Most of Halo fans are frustrated by the change, they want Halo Studios to return to the series’ classic arena shooter roots

Halo CE's remake ain't even out yet, and I already feel like the Halo Studios era is *worse* than the 343 era, when you take into all the reports of the toxic work culture and trend chasing that's coming to light. I fear Halo is doomed and being set up for failure.
