De NL-wallet implementatie van de EUDI-wallet (er is al een prototype) gebruikt een PIN en de biometrie van de telefoon (gezicht, vingerafdruk). Als jouw wallet wordt gehacked (wat heel onlogisch is, want het is een decentrale wallet) kunnen de aanvallers nog steeds niet op al jouw sites inloggen zonder de 2FA code. De EUDI wallet is o.a. een alternatief op Google, Microsoft, Apple inlogaccounts (zgn. OAUTH). Veel mensen gebruiken dat om in te loggen (de behoefte is gebleken groot), en daar is dus nu een open standaard voor (EUDI). En een referentie implementatie (de EUDI wallet van de EU). Je kunt ook voor een andere leverancier kiezen zodra die er zijn. EUDI wallets zijn decentraal. Er is dus nergens een centrale database waar de overheden kunnen meekijken. De technologie is een grote stap voorwaarts naar meer privacy en autonomie. Het probleem is nog steeds dat de EUDI, net als alle andere financiële middelen, onder gecentraliseerde governance valt.
