Is anyone teaching these guys how to play the damn game???
I like this kid Chandler Simpson but WTH is he doing???
Why is he stealing bases in 9th inning losing by 4 runs???
And please don’t tell me that’s his game!
When you are losing at every level of baseball you don’t take unnecessary risks on the bases PERIOD!!!
Lord help me!

Rays vs Brewers at 7:40pm EST
Shane McClanahan is making his first start since 2023. It's clearly risky to back a guy who hasn't been on an MLB mound in 2+ years, but that's fully baked into this line, so much so that we have to go the other way.
His strikeouts may still be popular, but a narrative many are understandably hesitant to back is how long he'll pitch in this game.
When you combine the Brewers' lineup against righties, his spring training data, and a rich history of clearing this line with ease, I see value in backing him to go at least five innings today.
Let's start with the most obvious one first: the history of clearing this line. In 2023, He cleared 14.5 pitching outs in 16 of 21 starts (76%). This is an extremely low bar for him.
Next up, spring training. He threw 13 innings, pitching to a 2.08 ERA with a 15:5 strikeout to walk ratio. He did not have his patented 97 MPH heater, but his secondaries were excellent, and he was still sitting in the mid 90s with his fastball.
The most important part is that he threw 73 pitches in his final start, going five innings. If I project 80 pitches for McClanahan today, which is still a relatively low bar, he should be able to maneuver through this Brewers lineup.
Without Andrew Vaughn and Jackson Chourio, two of the three best right-handed bats on the Brewers, the lineup is not very intimidating against lefties. We took Anthony Kay over 3.5 strikeouts, and his command was all over the place.
He walked four batters, had plenty of three-ball counts, and he was still able to put together a nice outing against them.
McClanahan's command could just go completely out the window, but he's never been a high-walk guy, nor did he show that in Spring Training.
If he averages 16 pitches per inning, that's 5 innings on a pitch count of 80. One quick inning and we are well on our way to getting there.
His stuff looks solid in spring; he's worked up to over 70 pitches, and the Brewers lineup projects to be below average against lefties at the moment. At near-even money, this is too good a price to pass up.
If by the time you’re reading this and the line has moved, a pivot I considered was Rays ML (+120). Not quite enough value for me to jump at it, but it’s my strongest lean of the day.
The Pick: Shane McClanahan Over 14.5 Pitching Outs (-105)
- Risk 0.75 U @BetMGM
