Wow! Fonticula alba! I have taken 2 years to find this genus in the soil and sediments but got nothing 🤔

@christo71213435 @multicellgenome @marko_kaksonen @CurrentBiology This particular slime mold is a unique slime mold. It is most closely related to the fungal branch, but not a fungi.

#Fonticula alba shows more. And it shows it nicely. Yes! More complex life cycle than previously thought in this fungal relative. And animal-like & fungal-like features. Great work @CPToret @marko_kaksonen & others @CurrentBiology bit.ly/Fonticula #Opisthokonta #protists

So the invasion of Fonticula cells deep into the bacterial field is driven by the selective repulsion between Fonticula cells but not bacterial cells? This behaviour seems consistent with a chemorepellant produced by Fonticula.
