THREE REMANDED OVER ILLEGAL TAKEOVER OF DECEASED’S ESTATE IN WAKISO! @AntiGraft_SH, in collaboration with @CID1_UG and @ODPPUGANDA, has arraigned three individuals before the Makindye Magistrates Court on charges of intermeddling with the estate of a deceased person, eviction of a lawful or bona fide occupant, destroying growing plants, forcible entry, malicious damage to property, theft, and trespassing on burial grounds. The accused are: 1.Male Umar 2. Nsereko Hood Mukasa Ssembatya 3.Namboze Janat Nsubuga They have been remanded until 29th April 2026. It is alleged that between 2024 and 2025, the accused together with others still at large, violently and unlawfully entered land measuring app. 4 acres located at Ndejje-Lubugumu in Makindye-Ssabagabo Municipality, Wakiso District, belonging to the estate of the late Ibrahim Katerega. They reportedly evicted lawful bona fide occupants without a court order, destroyed plantations, demolished houses with property still inside, and stole belongings with the help of armed goons allegedly deployed with machetes and sticks. The accused are also said to have fenced off the land, including burial grounds, thereby denying the rightful beneficiaries access to the estate of the late Ibrahim Katerega. Investigations further indicate that, without letters of administration, they participated in the sale of three acres of the deceased’s estate.

Uganda has shifted its railway project financing from Chinese to US-linked institutions, appointing Citibank as lead arranger. The original Chinese-backed construction deal was cancelled due to repeated financing delays. A new construction contract was signed with Turkish firm Yapi Merkezi to build the rail line. Uganda is also in talks with the World Bank to support the $3.19 billion railway linking Kampala to the Kenyan border.

🔴 COURT UPDATE – GGABA MURDER TRIAL Detective Assistant Superintendent of Police James Eserait, attached to Kabalagala Police Station, has told the court that he was the first officer to arrive at the scene where he found the accused, Christopher Okello. He testified that during their initial interaction, Okello allegedly confessed, saying he had been driven by a desire for wealth and had spent a considerable amount of time planning the alleged act. According to Eserait, Okello further disclosed that he had purchased several knives, some of which he allegedly used in the commission of the offence. The officer also told the court that Okello later expressed remorse for his actions and stated that he had personally contacted police through the emergency hotline 112 after the incident. UPDATE: Police officers attached to Katete Police Station in Mbarara city are facing allegations of torturing a suspect in custody. Juma Musa, a boda boda rider from Kiyanja, was arrested on Friday on suspicion of stealing a motorcycle at a bar in Katete Town.
