@hayalperestizm_ The genes that determine melanin production in the eyes are not all the same genes that determine melanin content of the hair. There are even some people out there with naturally blonde hair and brown eyes.

@piracy_cat It's called Keratosis Pilaris. Use a chemical exfoliant like Glycolic acid or Lactic acid to help dissolve the Keratin plugs clogging the hair follicles and use a good moisturizer with urea in it.

Any potential benefits from supplementation if you're not deficient are minimal. If your vitamin D levels are fine then there's a long list of other things you could spend your money/time on that would be far more beneficial. The guy on the podcast is trying to argue that supplemented vitamin D to get levels up is inferior to going and sun bathing to get your levels up. Which is insane because even a mild dietary change would increase levels of vitamin D more than sunbathing without sunscreen as he recommends.

@JoeRoganRecaps @Chimaster345 "The real debate isn't whether supplements raise vitamin D levels. They do. The debate is whether higher vitamin D levels reduce the risk of every disease people claim they do. The evidence there is mixed, especially in people who are not deficient. Part 2

New: Joe Rogan sparks a controversial debate with sunlight expert Rowan Jacobsen on whether or not Vitamin D supplements actually work: ROGAN: “Have any dermatologists attacked you for saying that sunlight is good for you?” JACOBSEN: “100%. They say nobody should get any sun exposure unless they wear sunscreen. If that makes you Vitamin D deficient they’ll just have you take it in supplemental form.” ROGAN: “I take Vitamin D supplements.” JACOBSEN: “They don’t work at all. It’s been tested and the evidence isn’t there.” ROGAN: “Did they take it with vitamin K2 and magnesium like you’re supposed to?” JACOBSEN: “I don’t know, but it’s shown no benefits for ANY condition. People that have high natural levels of vitamin D from the sun have less disease.” ROGAN: “I feel way better when I take vitamins and my bloodwork reflects that.”

@whyyoutouzhele He said that the US is a pacific power and therefore have a stake in what happens in the pacific and that China has historically benefited from this fact. Not that we were claiming hegemony over the pacific. Is this a translation error or are we just making things up now?

People have been saying “The sun is different.” Many people feel it’s brighter and much harsher Look what happened if you leave a Coca-Cola bottle out for just one week in direct sunlight… It was never like this growing up According to what I can find the official sources say you just remember it different, or your eyes are aging so it feels more intense But that’s doesn’t account for a lot of tests people are doing. Some other explanations says it’s solar cycle or it’s brighter during different times of the year

A little help toward the down payment wouldn't be unreasonable at all. It's not as if you're asking for anything that would prevent them from buying a summer home somewhere nice but who knows. A bit cold to just leave your kid to the wolves in this economy when you have the means to buy a summer home in France.

“My grandmother recently passed away and left her entire £800,000 estate to my parents. My parents are already comfortable – they own their home and have good pensions. I am currently renting a tiny flat in Bristol and desperately want to buy. I asked my parents if they would pass some of the inheritance straight to me for a deposit, but they said they want to use it to buy a holiday home in France and ‘enjoy their retirement’. Is it unreasonable of me to feel completely betrayed? Surely that money would change my life, whereas for them it’s just a luxury?”

@washghost1 Whatever your opinion on this is. You will not be able to effectively police what people print on 3d printers on a software level. Please don't advocate for laws mandating such things.

There's definitely a few but you don't see nearly as much of it happening as you would expect compared to the extremely wealthy people of the past. Especially considering the much larger number of people with significantly more wealth than ever. Though it doesn't help that many non profit organizations that do get significant donations are built to pay high ranking employees extremely generous amounts of money and not do much actual charity work. It comes down to the fact that by and large many people with the means to do good no longer feel any sort of responsibility to society do it.

I think it’s rather interesting that despite being far wealthier in absolute terms than a Vanderbilt or Carnegie or Stanford, and being directly positioned in an industry that could benefit from it, no tech elite has ever founded a university, and few have even given endowments

can anyone ELI5 why software needs to be "maintained"? Like why do you need whole teams working on stuff that already works? Hardware doesn't work like this If it functions, it functions and does not need to be changed unless you're replacing something worn out.

@nathanieltsutsa @Texas_jeep__guy It would have been one thing if rent was raised and he couldn't afford it so he had to move out. But the landlord didn't have to mock the guy for being poor. I'd say it's self inflicted.

Japanese cities can disappoint. Visitors stroll around hoping to be awe-struck by the dreamy spectacle of clip-clopping Geisha in their wooden geita, or barreling sumo wrestlers, or high-stockinged ninja girls (à la Kill Bill), and all against a Blade Runner backdrop, only to be confronted with mostly unremitting blandness. The constants are these: concrete, plastic, more concrete, more plastic, endless construction (one crappy shopping complex or mansion block replacing another), confusion, and noise. It can all seem dizzyingly homogenous. ✍️ Philip Patrick Article | spectator.com/article/the-da…

This is sick. 🔥 Carlos Gaines aka "Tyrone Stark" built a 40,000-volt plasma cannon out of scrap metal and old car parts. This is a working flamethrower with high-voltage arcs blasting pressurized butane into a wall of liquid fire that'll melt anything it touches. Turning junkyard parts into a functional arc weapon is the kind most people need a lab and a budget to pull off and he did it from scratch. This man better file a patent fast. And he better watch his back. Because building a functional, tactical weapon in your driveway is a quick way to get the feds knocking on your door to investigate.
