@GolfSpyT Anyway of @MyGolfSpy running a test on retail products vs tour ‘versions’? Would be massive if the products were differing hugely from what was being sold to the public! Guess it’s logistically impossible to get hold of enough ‘tour’ product!

@ChipForecast Most strive to have the retail ball be the majority ball on tour, but you're not going to get to 100% and keep all your tour guys happy. It does get a bit sketchy when you have a guy suggesting he's playing a given ball when he's playing one that's, to varying degrees, different.

Fun fact. All but 3 Nike Golf balls have been scrubbed from the USGA conforming balls list. Last generation of RZN Platinum & Black + what looks to be a tour one-off, are all that remain competition legal.

@GolfSpyT But surely ... if there’s so many ‘Chrome Softs’(or any other manufacturer) it’s morally a bit sketchy to be leading consumers to believe they’re playing the same ball as the pros - particularly if that’s one of the biggest marketing tools the OEMs have?

@ChipForecast Pretty typical. For just about every ball played on tour, there are multiple versions. While average golfers often *think* they're not good enough to tell the different, those guys are trying to hit super-specific launch windows.

@GolfSpyT As long as both have been tested and cleared as conforming that’s cool, but what if the lack of weight drastically changed CG/MOI? (I’m assuming it doesn’t, but I know fuck all about club building)

@ChipForecast I would think a fair comparison is the Cobra F6. Legal with both weights, or one, or even none. Didn't change during round, so rationally, it should be fine.

Reader emailed to ask if Patrick Reed's LST driver, which does not have the Tungsten weight is conforming. The structure is closed, so I assume it would be, however, it does differ from what the USGA has in its description of the G400 LST.
