Fact. Artan presented a Diplomatic passport. Fact, it drew scrutiny bc the purpose of the passport is incongruent with his reason for traveling to the US. Upon questioning CBP found derogatory information and denied him entry. It starts with the passport and ends with deportation because of those he associates with in Somalia.

So…he failed to obtain a P-1S visa and had to resort to Somalia trying to pass him off as Diplomat which failed. And yes, the Diplomatic passport was a problem bc it didn’t have the right visa for him to enter. You cannot enter the US to referee on a diplomatic passport. The associated visas are incongruent with such a passport.

@Slyfoxstev1 @abuga_makori The visa didn’t match the use. The proper visa would be a P-1S. A guy showing up to ref with a diplomatic passport and a diplomatic visa is going to raise suspicions.

And when diplomatic passports are handed out Willy nilly to “people of high esteem” then you should be able to understand why US CBP agents subject them to scrutiny when they try and use a diplomatic passport to bypass the proper visa. Comments like yours just build the case for why it was proper to deny him entry.

@ChrisScheve Diplomatic passports are not only issued to diplomats. They can be given to people of high esteem in the society — trailblazers who have endured a lot in support of their countries.

@bartlettdaron All he had to do was apply for a P-1S visa which is a visa specifically for high level international athletic events which are exempt from the ban on visas for Somalians.
