@interesting_aIl Strontium aluminate is a common phosphorescent material due to its ability to emit a long-lasting and bright glow after being exposed to light
Here it is combined with resin epoxy to make a ring 💍 😁

when VR kicked off, I always saw it as a way to experience things that are beyond what we can experience in real life. Fantasy, sci fi, horror etc. A big focus on my projects was to do what I could to make these possible as vrchat worlds, my first real introduction into making anything game like.
One of the biggest and demotivating trends on the platform over the past decade is seeing how the majority of its users want reality emulated/replicated instead of seeing new wonders or experiencing adventures they couldn't in real life. Houses, appartments, music clubs that exist in real life endlessly being recreated in vr and its all the vast majority seem to desire from it.
I do wish vrchat had tried to really push interactive experiences and games to people outside the vrc bubble and bring in more of the gaming crowd, but they've definitely double down on the hangouts and clubs (right down to doing merch collabs with those worlds) so they've really boxed themselves in with the kind of audience they can grow unfortunately.
Outside of that platform, it also feels like VR is moving slowly on the content side with how much I see VR content creators complain about lack of games overall. I do agree though, we're lacking the big hitters like alyx was years back that reached a more mainstream audience.
Over my currently 2-3 month break, I've been thinking of what I want to do going forward, I really want to find a platform with a larger audience for the kinds of content I like making. A healthier environment where there is ambition to innovate with experiences not possible in real life.
The GMTK 2025 jam was amazing, so many ambitious creators/teams really pushing for innovative ideas and the festival feel of trying eachothers games out and commenting etc. It reminded me of how much of that is lost for me in vrchat.
Anyways, thats how I feel right now since I started my break from vrc world making, having been away from it and being able to just watch from the outside there really isn't much motivation to want to go back in. I think the biggest reason for me feeling that way is both how the audience has evolved since pre-2020 and the creator community direction overall.
On other stuff, I've been using the break to go through my backlog of games (Doom eternal, RE4 Remake's dlc to name a few) and currently playing through silent hill 2 remake (complete blind playthrough since I never played the original). Its been fun, enjoyed a lot, learnt a lot from their game design (good and the bad) which I hope will help out with future games I make🙌
